Advantages: Lovely fluffy bubbles, gorgeous scent, bargain price

Disadvantages: I have to get out of the bath at some point!

As a working mother of two energetic little boys, one of my favourite indulgences is a good soak in a hot bath before bedtime. It's a real opportunity for me to lie back and relax, soaking away all my cares and worries.

I read a couple of rave reviews about Imperial Leather's 'Snug as a Bug' bubble bath and instantly liked the sound of it. I also liked the sound of the price - at the time of purchase, a generously sized 500ml bottle was selling for just £1 at Morrisons. (Even when not on offer, the bubble bath costs under £2 per bottle.) Now, I know some people feel more pampered and indulgent when they treat themselves to particularly expensive bath products but I'm the opposite. Many a time, I've treated myself to an over-priced Lush bath product, only to feel a bit guilty and resentful that so much of my hard-earned cash has been literally washed down the plughole and it has spoiled what should have been a relaxing treat! If I manage to find a great product for a bargain price, it makes bathtime all the more of a treat for me, although I'd imagine that not everybody feels the same way.

I'd heard so much about this product's wonderful fragrance so, as soon as the bath was running, I ripped off the lid. (Despite appearances, the lid just needs to be given a firm twist and then it pops back on after use.) I was a tiny bit disappointed with the very first sniff. Don't get me wrong - it was a pleasant scent but nothing amazing. Sniffed directly from the bottle, there is a faint aroma of vanilla and a sweet 'puddingy' smell but it didn't smell quite as appealing as the description of 'vanilla milk and honey' sounded. Once I added a generous squeeze under running bath water, the fragrance really came into its own though. Without wanting to come over all Jilly Goolden (remember her?), there was a definite chocolatey aroma released into the running water, mixed in with a subtle vanilla fragrance and I'm sure I could detect just a hint of the honey in there too.

The bubbles produced were gorgeous fluffy white masses of foam - much stronger than the effect produced by some Lush products which cost ten times as much! I've never managed to get that 'covered in bubbles' effect that you see on TV to preserve somebody's modesty, but this stuff really works and creates an amazing quantity of bubbles from just a single squeeze. Even better is the fact that they don't fade away after just a few minutes. Obviously, they did die down a little the longer I spend wallowing in the bubbles but they were impressively long lasting.

The gorgeous aroma also lingered and filled the whole of the bathroom with a lovely sweet scent, as well as leaving a subtle reminder on my skin once I finally dragged myself out of the bath. I can't claim that this has any particularly long-lasting moisturising effect on my skin but it certainly didn't irritate my skin at all and I do have sensitive, eczema-prone skin so I have to be careful with new products. Apparantly, this is mild enough for the whole family to use, being soap free and with a 'skin friendly PH', but as far as I'm concerned, it's mine, all mine!

This is definitely a bath product to use at bedtime. The bottle describes this as 'Comforting' and I have to agree - after using this I feel as though I'd been cocooned in a warm fuzzy blanket and just want to head off to bed and go straight to sleep. In fact, I'm planning an early night tonight and I'm already getting ridiculously excited about the prospect of a nice long soak in my 'Snug as Bug' bubble bath and then getting snug as a bug under the duvet with a good book! I might be old before my time but I'm happy!

Summary: Lovely!
