Advantages: easy to Carry, Quick way to freshen up, Cheap
Disadvantages: May need a deoderant as well to keep you really fresh, Scents not really for me
Once again we find we have another fad in the cosmetics and toiletries world, the refreshing body wipes. Most of the big deodorant companies have been launching these little wipes this summer that you can carry anywhere and use to freshen yourself up. Having watched endless adverts I thought they might be good to take away on holiday. You know that feeling when you have been lying in the sun all day and you feel generally sweaty and unattractive, well these potentially could be a good thing to have in your bag. I decided to try the Impulse Spirit Refreshing Fragranced Bodywipes. ~~What are they and what do they claim to do??~~ Impulse wipes cost around £2 and come in a box of 12 little blue and silver sachets. There are two different impulse scents in the wipes “Spirit” and “air”, the ones I tried were “Spirit” which was quite sweet and strong smelling. I think they were a little stronger in scent than the bodyspray, but yet not as strong as a perfume. The sachets themselves are simple to open, as there is a little section that you tear and then you take the little cloth out from inside. They claim that these wipes can help freshen you up, thus they are ideal if you need to go out straight from work, if it is a hot day, even when out and about at night in bars and clubs. You simply wipe these cloths over your body and it freshens and deodorizes it. The packets are so small as well that they could fit even in a small purse ~~The reality~~ I had high hopes for these wipes. I hate feeling hot and having that really skanky feeling. I took the whole box away with me on holiday to test them out. The first time I used them was shortly before I was due to land. I had been traveling all day and I just wanted to feel fresh again when I landed. I squeezed myself into the airplane toilet and ripped on open. They opened very easily and out I pulled this mesh like cloth. I was overwhelmed at first
by the strong smell, which it has to be said had an eye watering quality to it. However, wiping it over my skin certainly did make it feel clean and fresh and for a while I felt all invigorated and clean again. I did however discover a downside to these particular wipes. When I was at school, as with most of the girls my age we all started using impulse body sprays, however, gradually as I got older I learnt that they weren’t that great as far as deodorants go and that I needed something a little more to get me through the day. Basically impulse products are not in the same league as your Sure and Natrel Plus products. Once again I soon realized that these wipes were going to be no substitute for decent deodorant, especially not in the heat of Gran Canaria. So, not only would I have to carry the wipes to freshen up, but a deodorant as well, which kind of defeated what I was trying to achieve. As a temporary fix they were very good though and certainly for a short period of time. Additionally, rather than just being used to refresh underarms they left the rest of my skin feeling clean again, so maybe for traveling long distances they would be useful to have. I also didn’t like the fact the scent was so overpowering and have since discovered that Sure do some fragrance free wipes which I am planning on trying next. Definitely the idea of having small refreshing wipes to take anywhere is great so I am ticking the recommend to a friend box, however, I am not sure if I would use these ones again as they just weren't for me.
