Advantages: 96% natural ingredients, excellent packaging
Disadvantages: A bit expensive
I suffer from quite dry skin so I always moisturise after showering and I will have a top-up during the day if my legs are looking a bit parched.
I do have a favourite moisturiser and it was whilst I was in Boots to buy Palmers Cocoa Butter that I spotted Jergens Naturals moisturisers. I'd seen the advert on TV, promoting their product as having 96% natural ingredients, but it was the half price special offer that swayed me into putting the Palmers back on the shelf and putting Jergens into my basket instead.
Jergens have a range of different moisturisers, including Extra Softening, Age Defying and Skin Firming. I bought the Ultra Hydrating one to sort out my dry skin and also the Skin Firming one, which promises to sort out my cellulite!
I have been using the Ultra Hydrating one for just over a month and my skin is soft and healthy looking. I have used it all over my body including my feet, which I rarely pay much attention to, and it has been working very nicely. I'm not sure if it's significantly any better than my usual moisturiser, but it's definitely not any worse and that's the main thing!
I really like the packaging, as it is a simple plastic bottle with a large flip-top cap, which is what the bottle stands on. This means that all the moisturiser flows to the bottom, so it is easy to dispense and the bottle itself is quite thin and flexible, so you can really squeeze out every last bit (or cut the top off to really scrape the barrel!)
I find it very easy to dispense the amount I need, which isn't a great deal as it is very easy to apply to the skin and it absorbs really quickly.
There is no greasiness, which is brilliant and I don't feel sticky or uncomfortable after I've applied it. The smell is pleasant enough, although it's quite hard to describe. This moisturiser contains jojoba oil, but I'm not sure if that is the overriding smell. To me it just smells fresh, a bit like clean washing that's been drying in the sun.
I will definitely buy this again instead of my usual brand for the following reasons:
- better packaging than Palmers, so more economical.
- 96% natural ingredients, always good if you have sensitive skin.
- cruelty free, got to look after those bunnies.
- paraben free, I'm not sure what this means but it sounds good!
- made in the UK so low carbon miles, always trying to do my bit for the environment.
Although it is quite expensive at £4.88 for a 200ml bottle (they also do a 75ml version) I think it is worth it for the eco credentials of the product, plus I know I will be getting my money's worth as I can get all the cream out of the container!
Summary: I can't wait to try the Skin Firming one as well!
