Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin Body Creme
Advantages: packaging, scent, strength, moisturises
Jo Malone London is a beauty boutique offering gorgeous body and perfume treats.
*~Lime Basil and Mandarin~*
Lime Basil and Mandarin is just one of the scent collections that Jo Malone offer. This collection includes a cologne, hand/body wash, bath oil, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, soap, room spray, candle, reed diffuser and last but certainly not least, a body cream (or creme as they refer to it as).
The body cream will be the focus of my review today. Jo Malone state that this luxurious body cream will leave your skin silky soft. It carries an identical scent to the cologne and other matching body products so layering the scent shouldn't be an issue.
*Top note - mandarin
*Heart note - basil
*Base note - amberwood
This body lotion can be used as a base layer for enhancing the strength of the cologne. Jo Malone have created their scents so they are ideal for mixing and matching - the finishing result being a unique or 'bespoke' scent. Recommended mixers include 'Grapefruit' or 'Vetyver' for different effects.
Jo Malone products are simply but stylish in design. The body cream is presented in a sturdy, round jar with a screw top lid. A cream label adorning the top of the jar confirms the scent name and carries the Jo Malone logo. The jar can be recycled and this body cream has a 24 month shelf life from the first opening. The jar will be beautifully gift wrapped in store which is always a bonus - perfect if you wish to give this as a gift to someone special.
*~Price and Availability~*
If you are lucky enough to live nearby a Jo Malone boutique, you will be able to pop in and pay £48.00 for a 175ml jar of this body cream. Failing that, the website (www.jomalone.co.uk) also stocks this body cream.
I am a big fan of Jo Malone products. My most recent visit to the store was for my sisters instore birthday party. Before we left, we were given a goody bag full of samples and other treats. In my bag, I received a small jar of this body cream. Whilst Lime Basil and Mandarin wouldn't have been my first choice of scent from the many on offer, I always appreciate a freebie and left very happy indeed.
My body lotion/body cream collection is huge and whilst I am still trying to use up open tubes and bottles, I couldn't resist trying out my new body cream from Jo Malone. The packaging is beautiful and whilst simple in design, I find the jar looks very expensive. Whilst I use body lotions on a daily basis, I like to treat my skin to a perfumed product occasionally. I would imagine using this body cream on a daily basis would work out very expensive so I like to use it occasionally as a treat for my dry skin.
On opening my jar, the glossy white cream doesn't look as rich as many body creams but looks can be deceiving. Running my finger over the surface of the cream, I can confirm that it has a thick, almost bouncy texture. A small amount of this cream travels a long way on the skin. This body cream feels very luxurious and indulgent. The cream glides effortlessly over my skin and feels creamy, soft and ultra smooth.
This body cream sinks into my skin quite quickly. I find that I only need to massage the cream gently for a minute or so to avoid any tacky feeling on the surface of my skin. Once absorbed, my skin looks brighter and feels amazingly silky smooth. The cream is very gentle on my sensitive skin but highly nourishing. I notice my skin remains soft and moisturised for most of the day. This body cream is great for using on dry areas of skin as it moisturises and smoothens the area perfectly.
The scent of this body cream is gorgeous. When I first opened the jar, I could detect a lovely, fruity aroma. Once on the skin, the scent isn't overpowering but sits at just the right strength to be classed as a perfumed body lotion. The scent won't appeal to all but is much nicer than I would have expected given the scent name. When on the skin, this body cream gives of a natural, refreshing aroma which is quite invogorating. It never fails to make me smile as it is a bright, feminine scent which I find would suit warmer days.
The mandarin aroma is prominent and offers a zesty burst of scent when the body cream is first applied. After a short while, the scent changes a little and offers a leafy, fresh and fruity aroma. After a good few hours, the scent deepens a little as the mandarin starts to fade and the amberwood offers a warm, sweet aroma which lingers on the skin for a few hours. I would say that the scent of this body cream is evident after 7 or 8 hours of wear and more if layered with a cologne.
Whilst expensive, I find this body cream to be of a high quality and it smells absolutely divine. I love the way it feels on my skin during application and the way it leaves my skin feeling and smelling. It is a unique scent which is very summery and refreshing. Because of how rich this body cream is, it lasts incredibly well.
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: gorgeously decadent but oh so expensive!
