Advantages: Feels great, not strong smelling, relieves dry hands and LASTS ALL DAY!!!

Disadvantages: Can be really hard to find

As I'm new here I have found an easy way to start is to review products I have used for a long time and have stayed faithful too. This is one of them. And let me tell you I cannot do without this little miracle. Let me tell you a little bit about why I bought it first of all. A few years ago I had recently given birth to my youngest and had been breastfeeding for a month. At that time I was in a relationship with a man who was abusive and controlling and ordered me to stop breastfeeding and start bottle feeding. At the time I wasn't in the frame of mind to argue so I went along with this decision for about 4 days. To cut a very long story short, I actually stood up for myself and went back to breastfeeding but the effects of the constant bottle washing, sterilising and hand washing had taken it's toll and my hands were cracked and bleeding. Honestly I take my hat off to you bottle feeders out there, it is a lot of extra work. Now you would have thought that once I had stopped all that, my hands would go back to normal. No chance! What with the cold weather setting in and the fact that when you have a young baby you have to wash your hands a lot anyway (even us breast feeders), so my hands couldn't heal properly from what I had put them through. I remember my mum giving me a tube of handcream that she used and swore by. It was ok but I had to reapply it a lot which was inconvenient whilst I was out. I used my babys E45 cream which didn't help in the slightest. Then I spotted Johnson's 24 Hour Moisture Hand Cream. What attracted me the most was the fact it claimed to be effective for 24 hours and also even after washing. If it did what it claimed, it was exactly what I was looking for. So I picked up a tube to try and hoped for the best.

I don't know what to say about the packaging really. It looks pleasant enough. I'm not a big fan of pink but it isn't bright pink so I guess that's not so bad. It's easy to use, you just flip the cap and squeeze it out. I like these upside down tube designs anyway as you can always get the very last tiny bit out whereas other designs it is far more difficult. I originally was concerned that the tube was rather on the small side and that it would be expensive to keep replacing but that was not the case as it really is long lasting, which I will get to in a minute. Actually as it isn't so big and bulky, it's easy to slip in a travel bag if you're away overnight or longer.

So anyway I took it home not really expecting any miracles but you know what? I really did get a miracle in a little pink tube. I applied this in the afternoon and completely forgot about it until last thing at night when I always apply hand cream anyway. And when I say forgot, I mean I didn't need to re-apply it during that time. It instantly soothed and softened my extremely dry, cracked hands and kept working throughout the day. I like the texture. It's not too thick and yucky feeling as I find some hand creams to be (thick and yucky without actually DOING anything that is) but it's not all runny and messy either. It goes on smoothly and evenly. It doesn't have a strong smell which I liked as I hate to walk around smelling like the entrance to Boots. It was a bit of a weird smell but not an awful one and not a lasting one. My favourite thing about this product? It works a treat! It really does relieve dry skin wonderfully and it really does last. I put it on first thing in the morning after my wash and I have lovely soft hands all through the day with no need to re-apply however many times I wash my hands. I only re-apply after my bath at night just because I like to.

So there you have it. An unbeatable hand cream in my book. It feels nice, isn't strong smelling and lasts all day. I was debating over what rating to give it. The price is reasonable for the size and especially as you wouldn't need to replace it as often as some brands in a bigger size due to it's long lasting effect. The one and only problem with this product is it can be really hard to find for some reason. The only place I have found it regularly in stock is in Boots and only in one specific Boots store. Even other Boots stores in other towns don't always have it in stock and I can never get it in Superdrug or supermarkets etc. This has been a little bit of a problem once or twice but not if I remember to stock up in advance. But as I'm rating the product and not it's stockists (or lack of), I still give it 5 stars as it is THE perfect hand cream for me.

Summary: The mother of all handcreams. Cannot be beaten. Just wish it was easier to find.
