Advantages: Clean scent and good lather

Disadvantages: No moisturising effect

Moisturising body washes are ten a penny these days with many brands competing to offer the best moisturising product on the market. Some brands build themselves on the claim that their product will moisturise while it cleanses (Dove, for example) and others introduce moisturising ranges (Nivea for example). Johnsons are a little different. Primarily thought of as manufacturer's of baby products Johnsons broke through into the mainstream toiletry market a few years back and, riding on their "good enough for baby..." marketing now appear to be a major player in the adult market.

Johnsons 24 hour Moisturising Body Wash is, however, in my opinion, not a patch in terms of performance or quality on the baby products on which the brand built its name.

Smelling somewhat redolent of the traditional Johnsons Baby products the body wash is pleasant enough. Dispensing from the top of a flip-lidded bottle the creamy wash lathers well (particularly if using a body puff) and rinses well to leave the skin feeling clean and slightly scented with a fresh scent but one which, I think, would not be out of place on male or female. The claim of this product is, however, that it moisturises the skin and will keep it thus for 24 hours. Alas I cannot agree.

I did not notice any moisturising properties and whilst my skin did not feel dry and taut it certainly didn't feel moisturised. Compared to the baby washes and oils it was incredibly poor. Compared to the likes of a Dove body wash it really didn't cut the mustard.

I didn't experience any irritation as a result of using this product.

Overall I would say this product is distinctly average. It's not rich and indulgent, it doesn't moisturise particularly and the scent, although pleasant, is not distinctive enough to make you use it for that reason.

At around £2.99 I can think of better products that offer far more.

Summary: A rather lacklustre product from a traditionally good manufacturer.
