Advantages: It is kind and gentle.
Disadvantages: It may lack fragrance.
I am sure that most of us try to keep our skin soft, supple and well hydrated and as time goes by this becomes quite a challenge.
During my teenage years my skin was greasy and it stayed fairly oily until I reached my forties, then it seemed to undergo some startling changes. My once oily skin was beginning to look dry and in need of nourishment and this was when I started to look for bath or shower products that would rejuvenate my skin and make it look as fresh as it could.
I have tried countless body washes, some I get along well with and some get stuffed into the drawer after one wash.
I have to say that I am a fan of the Dove Pro Age range and also the Simple Nourishing body wash.
One of the downsides of body washes has to be the price tag, I find that they seem to average about £3 a bottle. Granted the contents of the bottle do go a long way but without sounding cynical I am sure that the manufacturers have realised that we are willing to pay that little extra bit extra if our skin will benefit.
Johnson's have to be one of the most respected names, they have produced first class skin care products for all ages for years. Speak to any young Mum and I am sure that they will have used something from the Johnson's range.
The Johnson's baby powder has an unforgettable smell and I use it regularly.
The Johnson's 24 hour moisture extra rich body wash ( what a long title!) comes in at an average price, I paid £2.99 for a 400 ml bottle.
The plastic flip top bottle is undeniably Johnson's, the lily white plastic with the soft pastel pink top and the makers name written across the bottle in that familiar navy blue font.
More often than not shower wash bottles are designed for easy hold but this bottle is quite wide and it does use the entire span of my hand to clasp the bottle properly.
But to be totally fair the plastic has no slippery sheen.
This Johnson's 24 hour body wash is especially formulated for dry skin and Johnson's proudly announce on the back of the bottle that the body wash will help flaky skin, make skin feel less tight and bring life back to skin that is looking dull and dreary .
The body wash is thick and creamy with a `pearly` appearance and it flows out of the bottle at just about the right speed.
I was surprised, I expected to smell that `Johnson's ` smell but instead what I could smell was soft, fairly sweet but neither particularly feminine or masculine.
When you pour a drop into your hand you can initially feel a slight stickiness which is soon remedied as the thick lotion hits the water.
A small amount of the Johnson's body wash produces a very good amount of thick, rich and silky lather.
The lather feels goods on the skin but I feel that it lacks that comforting smell that I was semi-expecting it to have.
The rich lather rinses away easily and I have to say that it left my skin feeling very pleasant.
The body wash was gentle and kind to my skin and caused no irritation what so ever.
It is very common for patches of dry skin to itch and I found that the Johnson's body wash seemed to help with that problem.
In all honesty I cannot say that I could still feel the effects of the body wash 24 hours later but I think that would be too much to ask.
I enjoyed using my bottle of Johnson's body wash, as the bottle started to get low it became a bit more difficult to prise the thick liquid out but I soon managed to squeeze the top off and add some water to thin the last of the lotion down so that none was wasted.
I have mixed feelings about the body wash, on the one hand it does the job unquestionably well but I still feel that it lacks fragrance.
Maybe if Mr Johnson were to inject some of that magic and familiar smell into it I would be more tempted to buy a second bottle.
Summary: A body wash that works unquestionably well.
