Advantages: Nice smell
Disadvantages: Doesn't do much but give a nice smell lol
I've been really stressed out of late and I do believe that I can go a long way to curing my feelings by generally taking care and being kind to myself. I haven't been sleeping or eating properly and I felt close to having a breakdown. All over Christmas and New Year I was as down in the dirt more so than I have ever been. I see a councillor (as I have eating disorder) and even he was worried about it. I could barely speak for two weeks and every time I went to say something I just wailed like an injured banshee. I felt awful, had headaches, was hungry (but couldn't eat) and I was in a horrible place which was a vicious circle it took me hard work to get out of mentally.
I did sort myself out by buying some Bach rescue products which are homeopathic. I bought soothing oils and lotions, camomile tea and even air fresheners with lavender in them. I started to eat some fresh fruit and drink water to wash vitamins down me and gradually I got there slowly. I do believe in pampering yourself when your down though it is very difficult I do understand that of course. Even going shopping to get items was a trauma for me and I was knackered and emotional but I achieved it and that in itself is an achievement lol
So I bought lots of new smellies. Sure I own plenty I am the first to admit but I wanted things especially to help my soothe my mind and jangling nerves and that's when I came across this product in Boots.
The Packaging....
400ml lilac plastic bottle with a screw on/off lid situated at the top of it. On the front I'm told it's Johnson's, Dreamy Skin, Extracare Bath 'with a drop of oil', Specifically for dry skin with moonflower. Then there is like a swirl pattern in purple and white and on that I'm told to prepare to sleep and awaken to beautiful skin. Then at the bottom of the bottle the size is stated (as I've listed already) and I'm told it's a Johnson & Johnson product and all of this is written in dark blue and dark pink writing. On the back I'm told a bit about the product, ingredients are listed, there is a bar-code, the recycle and size are on there and finally there are contact details given for Johnson & Johnson. It's a nice calming looking bottle actually. Smart enough and looks like a functional product of decent quality rather than pretty to look at or anything.
A Bit About The Product (According To The Back Of The Bottle)....
Sleeptime is the ideal time for the body to unwind and renew. Taking a warm bath with Johnson's Dreamy Skin Extracare Bath is clinically proven to help you drift off to sleep better. This rich, velvety soft regenerative formula with nourishing vitamins helps skin's renewal while you sleep.
Using It....
Well I add some under running bath water. I can't specify an amount you simply add what you think is enough. It comes out of the bottle easily but in blobs as it's quite a thick, rich, glossy lilac cream opposed to running out easily. I then, to get it mixed into the water properly swish my hand about in it a bit. I then leave it and when I get back I am greeted by water with a hint of lilac and a few white bubbles though nothing major. Of course if you add more product you get more colour in the tub and more bubbles.
The smell is very pleasant. Sweet and creamy and I expected a lavender smell due to the colour of the packaging (but never got that). Well I have no idea of what the smell is and still after looking at the ingredients which are listed on the back of the bottle to help me write this review there is nothing on there that would tell me what the smell is meant to be. It smells like a light blend of flowers but as I said the most distinctive thing about this is that it's pleasantly and not overpoweringly sweet and quite creamy. It isn't a harsh smell or anything and in my view is suitable for men women and kids to use if desired.
When I get in the water it is soft enough. It isn't overly so or terribly moisturising or greasy and it doesn't dry my skin out either. The bubbles pretty much disappear after half an hour of being in the bath and your left really with a rather dull looking water but the fragrance holds till you've finished bathing. Use your ordinary bath and body products, shave legs whatever you normally do as this won't interfere with any of that and if you splash your hair with it by accident it doesn't dry it out!
When I get out of the bath and pat myself dry I'm not left with softer skin than usual and even the morning after using it I don't feel any different to be honest. Yes I feel fresher and cleaner of course due to having a bath anyway but that's that really. For me it's nothing special.
Overall...
Does it give you a relaxing bath and/or make you sleepy? No is the short answer, it doesn't me. I mean I'm quite happy and relaxed to have a bath with pretty much anything in it anyway and this doesn't give me any more benefits than anything else I use. It certainly didn't make me feel sleepy. Really I'm a bit confused to what it is meant to achieve really as I didn't feel any effects. Dreamy skin implies and from what the bottle says that it's meant to give me renewed skin by morning...no not at all. Sleep didn't come but the relaxation part always does with a bath for me anyway. I'd say this. If you have trouble relaxing and sleeping and don't mind with parting £3.99 (in all good stores) then sure it's worth a go. It's not like it's not a perfectly nice bath product but just don't expect a miracle and you won't be disappointed!
Summary: I wish I could say it worked!
