Tanning - the safe way

It's nearly holiday time and we all want to look healthy and have glowing skin but unfortunately there's not much scope to sunbathe here in England and sunbeds have had a lot of bad press recently and are not necessarily the best thing for you. So, how do you get that sunkissed glow without all the effort or health problems, you use Johnsons Holiday Skin of course.

Johnsons holiday skin is a moisturiser which contains a gradual self tanner. You can use it as an all over body lotion which is great. Holiday skin is made by Johnson and Johnson, A global American pharmaceutical company which was founded in 1886. The product itself comes in a yellow coloured bottle, quite summery looking itself and has a flip top cap at the top to enable you to get the lotion out. What I love about this product is that's it's not just a self tanner which I always find leave you looking orangey and streaky and really don't work that well in my opinion. This product is more of a moisturiser with a hint of self tan. I think this product will suit people who do not want to look fake or over tanned but do want a bit of colour that they can control themselves.

Johnsons call the product, "Summer in a bottle." This product is very easy to use. Because it is a moisturiser you do not need to moisturise before you use it, you can use it as your body lotion straight out of the shower. Basically, you just rub it all over your skin like you would normal lotion. I do advise paying attention to the regular problem areas such as the elbows, heels etc because if you use too much lotion you can get slight orange patches because the skin is generally dry in these areas. The colour will develop naturally and is very light but you can tell that you have a bit of colour, it's almost like you caught a bit of sun and you have that sunkissed glow that everyone wants. It does wash off in the shower, not completely, but you will have to reapply every time you shower. I find if you use it for a couple of days at the start of the week, by the time the weekend comes you get a really good colour.

The lotion also contains aloe vera so you do end up with really soft smooth skin which is an added bonus. The smell is not bad at all. It does not have a chemical type smell like some tanners but it does have a bit of an aroma, so I do recommend using it a while before you go out so the smell can die down. The lotion comes in two varieties which suit two types of skin which is great, fair to medium and medium to dark.

A 250ml costs £4.88 and will last quite a long time. It's definitely a skin kissed glow that I recommend!

I used this instead of pan powder for a theatre production and found it works well! Infact the only place it doesn't work well is on the hands and in between fingers.

I found that the streaky look didn't suit me, Susan

This is the worst gradual tanner I've used! Streaky, orange, and it stinks! Great review though!
