Advantages: Well priced, ok scent, nice colour

Disadvantages: Goes a little orange on joints, irritates post-shave legs

Jonhson and Johnson's Holiday Skin body lotion describes itself as a "24 hour" moisturiser and gradual self tan, which I have found to be true in my personal experience. The colour develops over hours, and I have woken up the morning after having applied it and found myself more bronzed.

I bought the 250ml bottles on a 2 for 1 offer for under £10, which is very reasonable compared to my previous Piz Buin purchases - Johnson and Johnson's skincare products can be easily found in all large supermarkets, Superdrug and Boots.

Due partially to my skin tone and partially to impatience, I bought the "normal to darker skin" Holiday Skin, so that colour was visible on my skin before the 4 days gradual development that the instructions recommend. This worked very well, as in fact I have had to alternate moisturisers and now use Holiday Skin every other day - after shaving my legs, this product makes my skin sting and redden, so I then use Palmers body butter instead.

The lotion itself has a pleasant, sweet smell which does not develop into anything distinctly biscuity as many tanners do! It is white and so doesn't show up on the skin on application, but its nature as a moisturiser means that one won't accidentally turn orange - once the skin feels smooth and saturated, enough has been applied. I have also mixed Holiday Skin with my normal facial moisturiser to add a little colour to my face, it worked admirably and didn't irritate the skin.

On colour, I do refer Piz Buin a little, but Holiday Skin does provide an even and natural tan colour - though it seems to go darker on areas such as knees, elbows and feet, and strategic application is sometimes required to ensure that one doesn't look fake tanned.

In conclusion, Johnson and Johnson's Holiday Skin is a very good budget gradual tan moisturiser!

Summary: A good budget buy
