Advantages: Lives up to it's claims

Disadvantages: Not terribly manly

Ok.... I was without a shower for a few months when we moved into our current house recently. To begin with I quite enjoyed the luxury of only having the option of taking a long hot bath. After a couple of weeks though I began to long for my quick morning shower, so I was thrilled when things were finally sorted out and we had a brand new shower fitted.

I appreciated taking a shower more than I ever had done before, however I also wanted to ensure that I had a good shower gel to make the experience all the more enjoyable. I do suffer from my skin drying out after showering, so when I spotted the Johnsons Moisturising Shower Gel 2 in 1 on the supermarket shelf, the whole concept really appealed. I also had an understanding of the Johnson's brand and the kind of products they offered as I use the face wipes and several of their baby products.

I bought the shower gel from my local Tesco's during my weekly shop and I believe it cost £2.63 for a 400ml bottle. The bottle itself is white with a pastal pink flip top lid. The bottle also features the distinctive Johnson's logo and the following product claim..."With Johnson's 2 in 1 Moisturising Shower Gel you will not only feel clean, but instantly soft and moisturised. It contains a blend of a natural moisturiser and skin conditioners that provide added moisture, leaving your skin feeling clean, soft and naturally healthy - all day long"

Ok - well that sounds great but does it live up to this claim?? After opening the lid you are greeted with quite a soft floral aroma, the smell does actually remind me of babies and baby products. I usually quite like strong citrus smelling shower gels so I wasn't convinced by the smell of this one however I was prepared to overlook this if it managed to fulfill it's promise of being moisturising.

The gel itself is a pearly cream colour and when applied it has a creamy feel to it which then soaps up into a really luxurious foam. The whole showering experience felt great and while it wasn't invigorating it was soothing and rich. My skin did feel great afterwards and it certainly didn't feel as dry and tight as it normally does. I do think that it does live up to the claim of being mosturising and therefore is a success in my book.

Only downside is my husband wasn't so keen on it as he said it smelled a bit girly, he preferred something with a fresher aroma.

Summary: A great moisturising shower gel
