L’Occitane have a wide range of fragranced body lotions and the Fleurs de Cerisier (a.k.a. cherry blossom’ is one I’ve bought several times as part of their small bottle collections. The store that I use most often is an outlet store where you can pick and choose 8 items for (usually around) 20.00 or buy pre-combined sets of small bottles that are already bagged up. I tend to have a few of these bags hidden in my drawer in case of emergency present needs but this is one I’ve also used myself.
One thing you should know if you’re buying L’Occitane is that their packaging pretty much sucks. The products are great but they put them in horrible bottles that never seem to be willing to release their precious contents and which tend to crack when you squeeze too hard. If you’re buying in the 75ml bottles, prepare to fight to get the goop out but don’t fight too hard or you’ll end up with it leaking all over the place.
The Cherry Blossom is classified as a ‘shimmering’ lotion - which means it contains a low level of fine pearlescent particles that should give the skin what L’Occitane call an ‘iridescent veil’.
I apply this after a bath on slightly damp skin. The scent is quite gentle and fresh but I can’t really say that I would have been able to identify it as cherry blossom. The ‘soak in’ time with this lotion is pretty standard - leave it three or four minutes and it will be mostly sucked up but with a slight tackiness still on the skin. The shimmer is only slight - not so much as to make you feel like you had a fight with a tube of glitter, but it’s definitely there when you look carefully.
I’m not really sure that I see any great benefit in the shimmer but it’s not unpleasant. The cream has a lot of shea butter so you can rely on it for good deep moisturising and the scent is light enough that you can layer it with perfumes and other products without it fighting. I find this goes quite nicely when combined with their Peony fragrance.
At an RRP of 20.00 for 250 ml it’s not the most expensive of L’Occitane products but you will need to be sure you like it before spending that much. Personally I like it enough to buy the 75ml bottles for travel but not to buy a big one.
Loccitane is my favourite skin care/body care range. I only started using it last year after a chance discovery and I've been addicted to it ever since. I was lucky enough to get a range of products for Xmas and Im still making my way through them!
This shimmering body lotion is available in 250ml size on its own and also 75ml as part of a gift set. A 250ml is around £20, the 75ml with other items is around £30 but it depends on the gift set available. This is available direct at Loccitane stores and online or at some retailers such as John Lewis and Debenhams. It is also on Amazon, HQ Hair, EBay and other third party sellers. It is possible to get good deals on this when bought as an offer, for example Loccitane online regularly do free gift deals when spending over a certain amount which are worth doing however other places you can get discount codes for, when buying online from wherever its always worth checking for codes for the website using as they are more often than not there.
The body lotion itself is a shimmer one so I only tend to use this when I'm on a night out. I have a shower first (using the cherry blossom shower gel) then apply around a tablespoon to my arms, chest and neck area. It settles well onto the skin, its not greasy or sticky and it leaves a lovely shimmery effect on the skin and also a hint of summer cherry blossom. I usually couple this up with the EDT and between them it leaves a lovely summer scent on my skin which last hours. Moisturising wise, my skin feels soft but not oily or greasy.
I am a massive fan of Loccitane and for me the cherry blossom range within it is the best. I have several items within it and they all smell great, the lotion works well as part of it. As a shimmering lotion I personally wouldn't use it every day, but that purely personal preference but if you did want to use it regularly it will be fine as it leaves the skin soft. I give this 5/5, I love how it feels on my skin and how it smells, worth the money
I love L'occitane's products, I have been their costumer for years and still have not got tired of them, sadly enough the store is not in my area nor are they products of the cheapest kind so I do not enjoy their company every day of the year. I am really a fan of their lavender products and all the citrus kind but here and there there is time to try out other ones.
I got gifted this 500ml lotion alongside a matching shower bath and shower gel. You can also buy a perfume from this line to top up your cherry experience (and a broad range of other products).
First thing first the bottle is just gorgeous, it has an irregular not exactly square, not exactly round shape as you can see on the picture Dooyoo provided. On the bottle there are cherry blossoms that are standing out, they are 3 dimensional and you can feel them, it looks lovely! On the bottom a vintage(ish) etiquette that we are accustomed to when it comes to L'occitane. All in all this will look just perfect on any shelf!
Upon opening the bottle you are greeted by a gentle flowery scent, if you ever had the chance to smell cherry trees when they blossom you will find out that it is somewhat similar. The scent developed a little bit differently on my skin it still smells nice but it lacks a certain freshness - it's hard to describe - it is something you can smell in the bottle but later on the skin not.
The lotion is not greasy and it is easy to spread and rub into the skin. It dries up fast (or your skin "eats" it fast) and leaves your skin soft and dry... And shimmery! Yes this lotion has a shimmer effect but do not be worried there are no big glitters inside that would make you look like an alien if you would have them spread through the whole body, the shimmer is very subtle and gently almost unnoticeable, it becomes a bit more noticeable on the sunlight (don't worry it will be nothing like in the Twilight saga) with a gentle sparkle here and there. It looks classy.
I love this product and I love the shimmer but I do personally prefer lavender products, I am a huge fan of that scent.
I noticed it also comes in travel sized bottles, if you are still unsure on purchase you can also ask the salesman to give you a sample, I usually had no problems getting the samples in this store!
I bought a selection of L'Occitane products from QVC, and as I mentioned in a previous review of L'Occitane's Cherry Blossom Bath Pebbles, I have fallen head over heels in love with the Cherry Blossom scent.
One of the products I received from the Cherry Blossom range was the shimmering body lotion. I usually use a shimmery body lotion I received in a Christmas gift set from Next, when I go out, and although it gives a lovely shimmer to the skin, I am not so keen on it's scent. When I received this one, I was really pleased, as it is a scent I adore and promised to leave an 'iridescent veil' on my skin.
L'Occitane are a French company, who source most of their ingredients from Provence. They don't test their products on animals, neither do they use animal products - except for beehive products, like honey or royal jelly. Their cherry blossom products contain an extract of Luberon cherry which has hydrating and softening effects on the skin. This particular product is also enriched with Shea butter (fairly traded, of course) which is well known for it's moisturising properties.
The lotion comes in a clear bottle (always good, as I like to know how much I have left) and has a silver lid. My bottle is a smaller travel sized one, so is a little different to the one pictured, but I've seen the full sized bottle in the shops and it is a very unusual shape. It might look on the picture as though it is a square bottle photographed at an angle, but in fact, the back is flat, and the front is angled, which gives you the impression it is standing at angle.
The cherry blossom fragrance is gorgeous. I know obviously fragrance is quite a personal thing, and this will not be to everybody's taste, but I love it. It's very floral and feminine - a fresh, sweet scent, that is quite subtle, but absolutely adorable. There is something about the scent I find a little old-fashioned, I think it reminds me of something (although I've no idea what) from my childhood, but even so, I think it's a scent which would be suitable for most age groups, and in fact the cherry blossom fragrance, is L'Occitane's best selling Eau de Toilette.
The lotion is pale pink in colour and contains tiny silver particles of shimmer. On a recent night out, I decided to apply this to my arms and a little bit on my décolleté area to give my skin that 'iridescent veil' that was mentioned on the back of the bottle!
I found that a medium amount of the lotion is required - by that I mean you can't get away with a tiny amount, but neither do you have to slap loads on to cover a small area of skin. Despite containing Shea butter, which in the past I have found to make lotions quite thick and heavy, this lotion actually felt quite light on my skin and was absorbed quickly, which was great as I was in a rush when I used it!
The results I got, were not entirely what I expected. I knew from having seen this being demonstrated on QVC when I bought it, that it was not going to give me an over-the-top shimmery look - for example I was not going to look like I had been assaulted by a Christmas tree- but I felt that there was very little shimmer there - certainly not this 'iridescent veil' they were promising. A closer look, revealed that if I twisted my arm slightly, I could see that there were a couple of shimmery particles on my skin, but I think it would be better if the shimmer was slightly more intense- it doesn't need to be over-the-top, but I'm not really sure how they can get away with calling this a shimmer lotion as there is barely any shimmer in it!
During the writing of this review, I applied a little of the lotion to my left arm. Now, if I compare both arms, the left one ( to which I applied the lotion) does look a little brighter and healthier than the right, but still not particularly shimmery at all.
As a moisturiser, this does work quite well, it left my skin feeling soft and moisturised, and as I said, absorbed really quickly, leaving no sticky film on the skin.
The scent of the cherry blossom is fairly subtle, but even so, I found that a couple of hours after applying this, the scent seemed to have faded completely, which I was really disappointed with, as I love it so much.
A 250ml bottle of this lotion will set you back around £16.50. To me, that is a lot of money for a body lotion, especially considering it did not really give me the results I had expected. It can be purchased from www.loccitane.co.uk or it is also sold in Fenwick's.
Overall, I was a little disappointed in this product. For the price, I was expecting something fantastic, but unfortunately, didn't get it. The scent is absolutely gorgeous, but it's disappointing that it doesn't seem to stay on the skin very long, and delivered very little shimmer. On a more positive note, it did leave my skin feeling nice and soft, and like I mentioned it did seem to make my skin look a little brighter, but even so, I don't think I will be purchasing the full sized bottle.
