During the post Christmas sales, I picked up a Lipsy fragrance gift set for half price which I was pretty impressed with. As well as the perfume, I received this body lotion within it. I am a sucker for the little body lotions that come with fragrances, however I never seem to purchase them on there own as they are often highly priced. I was pleased that this little extra came in the set, especially at the price I got it for.
I managed to snap up a 50ml bottle of the Lipsy fragrance and this 75ml bottle of bottle lotion for a fabulous £10.00, however it retails directly from Lipsy for £25.00 for the combined set. It is quite a reasonable price for a perfume and body lotion, however I am not entirely sure if this can be purchased on its own as I have only seen it in various gift sets. I could imagine that if it was sold on its own it would be overpriced due to the brand. Technically, I got this for extremely cheap and it was an added freebie with my perfume, so it was a nice little extra for me. I doubt I would ever go out of my way to purchase this item individually however.
You get a 75ml tube of body lotion, and to be honest this is not a very generous amount. Many other body lotions come a lot bigger, therefore this does not last very long and I estimate that you could get about ten or so uses out of it. When you squeeze out the body lotion, it appears in a thick, white liquid and has a very rich texture which is excellent as it means it will probably be quite moisturising.
To use this product is very simple. I simply squeeze out a small amount, around the size of a 10p piece directly on to my hand. I then rub it into all areas of my body. I would say that this size will accommodate enough for a leg or an arm. I personally like to apply the body lotion to fresh, clean skin once I have got out of the shower as I feel it works best at this point and you do not need to reapply if you have a shower later on. I like to apply this all over the skin including arms, chest, stomach, legs and back so that I can moisturise all over.
The body lotion sinks into the skin almost on impact, and something which I was quite impressed with was that it does not stick on your skin for ages. This means you can put your clothes back on within a couple of minutes rather than standing around waiting for this to dry. As far as ease of use goes, this body lotion is fantastic.
One thing which I really liked about this was its lovely smell. If you have ever entered a Lipsy store or used their signature fragrance, it is the exact same scent. It is very girly and a sweet scent with lots of floral tones to it. It is not overpowering as a body lotion, however makes the skin smell lovely when you come close to it, meaning it is quite a subtle yet noticeable scent which I was impressed with. The smell obviously might not be to everyone's taste but it is right up my street so I was fairly pleased.
Now, the whole point of body cream I feel is that it should leave your skin looking and feeling great. I aim to buy body lotions which leave the skin feeling silky soft and smooth. Also, body lotions help to moisturise the skin leaving it hydrated and hopefully a lot healthier. I have used various body lotions in the past, and considering this is branded well and sold at a higher price than a drugstore brand, I have to admit that this didn't deliver fantastic results. My skin wasn't noticeably better or smoother, and the lovely scent seemed to disappear within about half an hour, so overall I was a little disappointed with this.
I suppose it is a nice body lotion if you get it is a freebie with a fragrance like I did, and I would appreciate it as a gift from someone, however it is not something which I would go out and rush to buy again for myself as you can get much better body lotions for a cheaper price, and you would be lucky to find this one available on its own without being in a set. A so-so body lotion which deserves three stars. Thanks for reading.
