Advantages: One super dooper kissable mouth
Disadvantages: None i can think of
As a qualified and registered dental nurse i am very regimental about my oral health routine, i brush in the morning for the reccommended 2 minutes with a fluoride toothpaste, floss my teeth, and then rinse with my old faithful Listerine tartar control.
Listerine comes in different flavours and each one is designed to prevent different dental ailments.
Listerine tartar control is designed to reduce the build up of plaque on the teeth and prevent the build up of Tartar (hence the name), plaque is caused by food debris in the mouth mixing quite happily with salvia, this will cause the sticky build up of plaque on the teeth and if its not removed it will become Tartar or to call it by its correct name, Calculus.
You can purchase listerine in different sized bottles, i opt for the 250ml, it has a black lid, and the seal is clear with listerine written in yellow letters, just below the lid it has a red sticker with white writing, this white writing will tell you what your particular listerine product is designed to do.
Further below is a silver sticker, with a smaller red sticker/white writing telling you again what the product does, underneath this in big black writing it says tartar control LISTERINE ANTISEPTIC MOUTHWASH, kills the germs that cause dental plaque and bad breath, and the flavour is Cleanmint.
Listerine is accredited by the BDA (british dental assocation)
and is produced by Pifzer consumer healthcare walton on the hill surrey.
It is reccommended for daily use, twice a day and it is clinically proven to reduce the prevent and reduce plaque, which is a major of cause of gum disease, it will prevent and fight tartar and kills the bacteria from in between the teeth
(the interproximal spaces) and yes it really does freshen the breath!
The ingredients are Aqua, Alcohol(which gives it that burning sort of taste most people dislike so much) Sorbitol Aroma,Poloxamer 407,Sodium Saccharin,Benzoic acid,Eucalyptol, Zinc Chloride,Methyl Salicylate,Thymol,Sodium Benzonate and Menthol (which gives it the fresh minty taste)
It is simple to use, simply put 20ml/4x5 teaspoon fulls into a glass, NEVER swill straight from the bottle, rinse around the mouth and spit after 30 seconds, do not be tempted to rinse mouth with water after, and bingo your mouth is now being protected from the nasty germs that like to live in there.
I use this every day, and i also check its working by using Disclosing Tablets, these are little pink/blue/purple tablets which you can buy from most supermarkets or from your dentist, you brush your teeth and then chew on of these little beauties, let the tablet do its stuff before spitting out and it will stain the areas of your mouth where the plaque likes to live.
I would reccomend listerine to everybody as part of their oral health routine, and if the taste it a bit strong for some people you can get listerine alcohol free which works just as well.
So what you waiting for? my advice? BUY BUY BUY.
Thanks for reading!
Summary: Really does work and its the best seller at my practice!
