Advantages: Strong mouthwash, effect last for ages
Disadvantages: Blasts your head off, not cheap
Listerine mouthwash is one of those products that you just trust to get the job done. I could end the review here but that would fall short in some way. Anyone who has been kind enough to read my reviews will note that I do like value for money, often swaying towards the cheaper budget ranges and supermarket own brands in particular. Unfortunately when it comes to certain products you just can't beat the market leader (and boy, have I been searching). Listerine mouth wash falls into this category.
Like almost all mouthwashes this one comes in the standard green (liquid colour that is). There are several sizes to choose from. I tend to buy the 250ml bottle which retails for £2.39 unless there is an offer on the 500ml bottle which Tesco often do two for £5. Even though there is a child proof cap that often defies all attempts by my wife to gain access, for some reason they still place a little of that heat shrink around the cap. I always end up attacking this with a kitchen knife as there is rarely any other method of entry offered.
I won't bore you with a list of ingredients as I am sure that if this is important to you then previous reviews will help you out here. Seriously though do study the ingredients if you have any concern about possible reactions etc. And you may well want to look at the ingredients after you have had your first mouth rinse with this stuff, as it does quite literally blow your head off. The instructions mention swishing around for about 30 seconds, but after about half this time it feels like your mouth is dissolving. Talk about feeling the burn! But in the true Dunkirk spirit it is worth soldiering on for the full effect. No pain, no gain, and all that. I should mention that the flavour is minty.
My wife and I both love this stuff (weird eh) but even though it does burn your mouth the after effect is minty fresh breath for quite some time. You do get used to the strong taste after a while. However I do find it difficult to handle first thing in the morning when my stomach is still getting used to the idea of being awoken. The only product to top this one is the Listerine Total Care, but that as they say, is another story.
Summary: The most powerful legal mouthwash money can buy
