Advantages: Doesn't Burn As Much, Nice Taste, Works!
Disadvantages: Hard To Judge 20ml.
I am fairly new to the Listerine range as I used Colgate Plax mouthwash before. The only reason I changed was because I read many good reviews about it and it is clinically proven to do more things than the Plax.
When I went into my local Boots I was taken back by the large range of different mouthwashes Listerine do.
Teeth & Gum, Coolmint, Softmint, Freshburst, Total Care, Stay White, Original & Cool Citrus.
Along with the different mouthwashes was the different sized bottles ranging from 95ml - 500ml. And for each bottle the price varied alot.
Now, what made me choose the softmint?

I actually brought the coolmint first, mainly because it was the cheapest.
But when I came to use coolmint, I followed the instructions and put the liquid into my mouth. Litrally 3 seconds later I spat it out as my mouth felt like it was on fire!! I had to dive under the cold tap to rinse my mouth out!
I carried on using coolmint and got used to the burning sensation. When I was near the end of the bottle I went into Boots to get another bottle of mouthwash, but not coolmint!
I saw Listerine was on 2 for £5.00, so I took advantage of this offer and decided to look at the expensive bottles which are near the £5.00 mark.
I saw Softmint sensation and it looked good, everything I needed but hopefully won't make my mouth feel like it's on fire.
I picked up two 500ml bottles which cost £4.30 each, but as they were on offer it cost £5.00 for both, bargain!
The next morning I took off the child-proof black cap and poured 20ml (4 x 5ml teaspoon) of the light green liquid into the lid.
When I took the lid off, the aroma of antiseptic came out. It wasn't strong nor unpleasent but it depends if you like that smell.
I wasn't sure what to expect as it is a milder flavour compared to Coolmint, but I poured it into my mouth and swished it around. At first there was a very slight burning sensation but it was fine.
I left it in for the 30 seconds that Listerine recommened, my mouth and teeth felt fresh and clean, although if you leave it in your mouth any longer than the 30 seconds it starts to burn.
The taste is fairly pleasent too, it doesn't taste how it smells which is good! It is meant to be Soft Mint hense the name, but I can't taste the mint very well, it's hard to explain how it taste's but I find it's fine and actually pleasent.
I have been using softmint for over a two months now and I have found it really works. My mouth feels fresh throughout the day and all my teeth feel like the mouthwash has got inbetween them.
The mouthwash is an antibacterial too, which helps to kill bacteria between the teeth.
It is said to reduce plaque by 56% more than brushing alone, plaque is a major form of gum disease. This is another reason why I chose this mouthwash although I brush my teeth twice a day I feel this gives them a bit of extra protection.
If you use this twice a day morning & evening it will provide you with 24 hours of protection.
Overall I like this mouthwash, I feel it provides my mouth with everything listed on the bottle.
The only disadvantage is that it's hard to judge 20ml, and often in the morning I don't have time to measure as I'm nearly always running late!
Also the slight burning sensation if you leave it in over 30 seconds, it's good as you then know you have to spit it out but, it's not a nice feeling.
