Advantages: It smells of chocolate

Disadvantages: Everything!

Bath melts in theory are a truly wonderful invention. Some are absolutely wonderful and you will use them again and again and others are actually quite horrible and you wonder why you ever bought it in the first place! If your anything like me you will always give something a try and then form an opinion on it after the event! 13 Rabbit bath melt is one of those that looks and sounds appealing yet you get it home and it actually disappoints! The fact that it had chocolate in its description was all it needed to make me buy it!!

No doubt chocoholics the world over become excited by the mere thought of a chocolate bath. But in 13 Rabbit's case, you're better off holding onto your thoughts lest they become tainted by reality (or by actually filling a bath tub full of chocolate sauce!). This Bath Melt smells enticingly delicious in its concentrated solid form, quite a bit like a chocolate truffle that recalls the glory of Aztec chocolate, cocoa butter and cocoa powder give 13 Rabbit its chocolate scent, while walnut and peanut oil combine with warming cloves and ginger to add a touch of exotic spice. Well seriously what more could a girl need?!

I'll confess that the first time I ever pulled this melty little cake from its wrapper, I was tempted to give it a lick, and the only thing that stopped me was what appeared to be embedded wood chips. Yes, 13 Rabbit contains whole clove buds and cinnamon stick

shavings that resemble tiny twigs and tree bark, and if you think these brown-black bits look innocent on top of your little bar of chocolate-y goodness, wait until you get the bath melt into the bath, it's as though someone took a handful of mulch and threw it into the bathwater as a practical joke (the kind that is only funny to the person pulling it). Now I don't know about you but the idea of sitting in a bath with brown bits floating around is not my idea of relaxing, let alone comfortable!

Your only solace will be a light superficial froth of bubbles (but only if you add this melt to the bath when the water is running. Add it once the tub is full and no solace for you!) To rub a spot of salt into your chocolate loving wounds, before you can even say "oh look Mulch!", that good-enough-to-eat fragrance is gone, gone, gone. Arrivaderci. So now you're lying in scentless yellowed tan bathwater that barely moisturises your skin, playing with blackened clove buds. Now to me this is sometime of torture, being in a horrible bath with black bits floating around and the water which could quite easily resemble a muddy puddle! Did Lush ever test this product?!

And if you're as bored as I've been in a 13 Rabbit bath, you might even find yourself answering that question out loud as if subconsciously trying to engage yourself

in the entertaining distraction of your own insanity. But as soon as you realise it's not working, you'll pull the plug and head off to the kitchen to drown your disappointment in a big slice of chocolate cake, the most traumatised among us likely feeling a need to first

check it to ensure that some prankster didn't bury mulch in the icing. Just ensure when the water has been let out the bath to give it a good clean purely because you feel you have to!!

Fortunately for our sake Lush discontinued this way back in 1999 and was never brought back as a retro product, probably because they realised that this item was so awful! I'm still yet to find another Lushette who actually enjoyed it! I think the fact that we were all lured in by the chocolate must say something about us!!

Summary: Thank god it has been discontinued long ago!

I'll count myself fortunate that I'm extremely unlikely ever to encounter this product then!
