Advantages: Smells gorgeous, looks amazing, fairly cheap for Lush
Disadvantages: Only available for Christmas
I have mentioned in several previous Lush reviews, that I ordered most of the Lush Christmas products at their forum party a few months ago, and I bought virtually everything in the range, with only one or two exceptions. One of the things I didn't buy, was the Angels Delight soap. I bought a slice of the Christmas Cake soap as I thought it looked great in the picture, but decided against this one, as really I have too many soaps already, and plus I had read some quite negative things about it.
A week or so ago however, I decided my neck was aging quicker than the rest of my body, and in a panic, decided I urgently needed neck cream - as you do! I knew Lush made one, so ordered a bottle, and as they have free delivery on the website at the moment, I couldn't help but order myself a few extras at the same time - it would be rude not to really, wouldn't it? Anyway, I'm not sure why, but I seemed to have a u-turn on my decision not to buy this soap, and ordered a bar.
When it arrived, I was delighted by the colour of it - the most beautiful shade of pink, which actually reminded me of the colour of snow fairy shower gel. As you may know if you have ever bought Lush soap, it is made in a huge slab and then smaller chunks are cut from this. The full sized slab has pale pink stars on the top and then small foil stars on the sides. As I ordered mine online it was pot luck as to what my slab would look like, but when it came it had part of a pale pink star and a couple of foil stars on the side, which made it look really lovely.
The smell of this soap had not been quite what I was expecting. I had expected it to be very fruity and orangey, as it contains tangerine oil and orange oil. I did have a slightly orangey scent, but the overall fragrance was very sweet and I thought slightly like coconut cake. It's an absolutely gorgeous scent, very sweet, feminine and quite girly - I'm sure younger girls would love this soap.
The soap is made with Lush's palm-free base - a mix of coconut, rapeseed and sunflower oil, although on the website at the moment it is showing the old ingredients list which contains Sodium Palm Kernelate, but I ordered mine online and the label shows the new palm-free recipe. The new palm base has been criticised because the soap does not lather very well any more.
I found that this particular soap also had this problem - it does produce some lather, but it's quite minimal and you have to rub the soap over your skin quite a bit to make enough lather to make you feel clean. I did manage to use this to shave my legs though - but only just - I don't think I'll use this soap for that purpose again as I used quite a lot of it up trying to work a lather from it.
The smell of the soap on your skin is absolutely beautiful - gorgeously feminine and girly and it stays on your skin for some time afterwards too, which is a huge bonus. I'm sure before buying this, I had read somewhere that it was quite drying to the skin, but luckily I have not found that to be the case with me, which is fortunate as my skin is quite dry in the first place, and the cold weather makes it worse. I actually find that this leaves my skin feeling soft - I wouldn't say moisturised, but it's not drying either.
A 100g bar of this soap will cost £2.15 from Lush stores or you can get it online from www.lush.co.uk and the website is currently offering free postage and packing on all UK orders, so if you don't live near a store, now is a great time to buy.
I'm really annoyed with myself that I didn't buy this months ago, and am glad I decided to be a bit naughty and order some, because I absolutely love it. This is by far one of the nicest smelling Lush soaps I've tried, it's a beautiful colour too and as it's only available for Christmas, I would recommend everyone goes out and gets some now!

- 01/12/08 You're not helping! I think the is one of the few Christmas range things I haven't tried, and I wasn't impressed when I sniffed it in the shop. Maybe, though...! ;) |
