Advantages: Relaxing and calming.

Disadvantages: Expensive

I have been visiting Lush shops for a while now and so thought i'd take the opportunity to write about them a little more here!
As with any bath bomb you pop them into your bath and let them fizz away, usually producing a lovely smell and/or colour. I personally find them very relaxing and love having my bath water coloured. In Lush these 'bombs' are called ballistics.
Lush do many, many bath ballistics ranging both in price and type. The cheapest bomb you will find is the 'ickle baby' ballistics. These are designed specifically with children in mind and come in two colours. They are significantly smaller than the normal ballistics but are priced accordignly at £1.32. I think the addition of something like this in a childs bath can make the idea of a bath a lot more fun for them!.
In the normal range of Lush ballistics there are many different colours and smells, some containing added extras. I will pick a couple of different types and write a short summary to give you an idea of how different each one is:

Vanilla Mountain: Priced at £7.50 it is expensive, but the size matches the price. It is huge and there is no way I would put the whole thing in one bath. It is simply a larger version of Vanilla Fountain. But is a very effective gift. It has a very strong vanilla smell which has got 'burnt toffee' undertones to it. The ballistic turns water a shade of yelow which isn't too pleasant but for the smell it's worth it!

Supernova: Priced at £2.79 which is around average for Lush ballistics. It's a simple pink ball about the size of a fist with lots of multicoloured strands coming out. When placed in the water, these strands are released from the ball and float in the bath. Personally I don't like this style of ballistics as too much gets caught in the plughole (if anyone really likes this scent but not the mess, a good tip is to place the ballistic in a pair of tights as it stops all the bits escaping into the water).

Magic: Magic was a ballistic especially for Christmas (although it has now been bought back for Easter). This ballistic is a demonstration of what I think a perfect ballistic should be. The colour of it was a medium blue but as it fizzed away the middle was a deep purple colour. It turned the water a lovely colour, similar to that of which the sea always seems to look in tropical countries. The smell was also lovely and there was no mess to clean up afterwards!

As you can see, there are many types of ballistics so there is always something for everyone. At the moment there are around 25 ballistics in shops with more on the internet in the 'retro' section.
As a small extra point, these ballistics have never stained my white bath although if you sit too close to them while they fizz they may stain parts of you!!
I find ballistics the best if you live in a hard water area, bubble bars are lovely but only really worth it if you live in soft water so the ballistics are more suitable.

The only disadvantage with these is that they are hard to be used for more then one bath - with the bubble bars it's easy to break them in half but with these it's much harder so trying to save money is more difficult which then unfortuneately makes it expensive.

Summary: A Lovely treat.
