Advantages: Lovely fragrance, No animal derived ingredients, Something different
Disadvantages: More costly than bubble bath, Not a Lush shop in every town
I don't live near a Lush shop... I don't want to splash out on postage by ordering online... So when I am anywhere near a Lush shop I like to treat myself to a few goodies I've not tried before.
What's So Special About Lush?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All products made by Lush are suitable for vegetarians, and many are suitable for vegans. Not that they expect you to eat their products, but it's nice to know that the products you're using to clean yourself don't contain ingredients derived from dead animals. They also only test their products on humans, and make the products by hand.
My Purchase
~~~~~~~~~~
On my most recent trip I decided to purchase a few bubble bars, having heard a few good things about them anyway, and mainly out of curiosity to find out what bubble bars were like!
Blue Skies & Fluffy White Clouds looks like a thick slice of swiss roll, however instead of the golden sponge and red jam, this is bright blue like the sky on a sunny day, and white! The slices you purchase are generous in size, much bigger than the palm of my hand.
As I took my collection of purchases to the checkout the girl there asked me if I knew what to do with all my purchases... she was kind enough to tell me that although most of the products are sold stating they'll only suffice for one or two uses, you can usually get much more. "If you're careful about how much you break off you'll probably get about 4 baths out of this one" she said with regards to my Blue Skies purchase.
Off To The Bath
~~~~~~~~~~~
The instructions advised to me were to break a section off my slice of Blue Skies and crumble it under the running water as I filled my bath. I found it quite hard to break a section off - it's sold it stuff! And it was even more difficult to start to crumble it - I had a few chunks fall in that didn't seem to dissolve too well, but when I picked them out of the bath and crumbled them again they soon dissolved. Once my bath had been run I was left with inviting looking blue water with white fluffy bubbles on top... just as the name of the product suggest I guess?!!
The smell of the bath was lovely too. It wasn't too girly, but it was a fairly sweet scent. Even my other half commented that the bath looked good and wanted to use if after me! According to Lush the smell is the "balancing scent of patchouli, calming, relaxing frankincense and stress-relieving, stimulating cinnamon".
The water felt softer than usual - whether this was the oils present in the bubble bar, or my imagination after already deciding I was bathing on a cloud (!) I'm not sure.
At £2.95 for a 200g bar, bearing in mind that chances are you'll get 3 baths out of it, maybe 4 if you're not to bothered about having tons of bubbles, or perhaps just 2 if you like it really bubbly, it's going to cost you somewhere in the region of 75p - £1.50 for your bath (+ the water). Obviously not as cheap as some bubble baths, but in my opinion, definitely worth it for a treat. I don't have a bath very often, as a shower is much quicker and more convenient for me, so when I do have a bath I like it to be a nice relaxing one. With my Lush products, and in particular with Blue Skies & Fluffy White Clouds I feel I'm getting a little bit of luxury along with my relaxing bath. I would definitely recommend this product, and I'll definitely be buying again on my next trip to a Lush shop!
