Advantages: smells great, softens skin
Disadvantages: some people may dislike the spicy cinnamon aroma
Lush are a company who produce and make a wide range of bath and body products; all of the ingredients used in their products are a combination of fresh organic fruit and vegetables, pure essential oils and safe synthetics. A lot of bath and body products on the market are tested on animals; but Lush are one of very few companies whom are dead against testing their products or ingredients on animals and this is the main reason why all of their products contain safe and natural ingredients. The ingredients which Lush make their products from are also bought from companies whom do not test them on animals so you can be sure that none of the products you buy from Lush have ever been tested on animals. Lush believe that the products they make are safe enough to be tested on a panel of human testers because of the safe and natural ingredients they use in them. All of the natural ingredients in the Lush products are also vegetarian and the products contain very little or no preservatives in them. I think that the way Lush manufacture, make and package their products is fantastic and more cosmetic companies should take a leaf out of the Lush book and do the same as there are far too many cosmetic products being tested on animals.
As I mentioned above there are lots of different Lush products to choose from which are mainly highly scented, brightly coloured and have really funky names. You really do have an awful lot to choose from when you enter a Lush store and could easily spend a small fortune, I normally set myself a limit of £30-40 maximum otherwise I could easily spend double or treble that amount in the space of a few minutes. Normally when I'm choosing a new Lush goodie to try out I am drawn to the products which are either bright pink or purple in colour; mainly because pink and purple are my favourite colours and they look all girly and feminine.
There are lots and lots of different products available in Lush stores or online, so you are sure to find a product which suits you. If you are unfamiliar with the sort of products Lush sell then I would advise having a look online as they sell solid and liquid shampoos, bath bombs, bubble bars, etc. Some of the Lush products however aren't available to buy in store, you have to buy these particular products online from the Lush website. The products which are solely only sold online at Lush are called Lush retro products and there are quite a few of them to choose from, some of my most favourite Lush products are from the Retro range.
The Lush Blue Skies and White Fluffy Clouds is a bubble bar which is sky blue and white in colour. The reason I bought this bubble bar was because it looked really similar to the Lush Comforter Bubble Bar which I really liked; the only difference between both bubble bars is the fragrance which the produce and the actual colouring of them. When I bought the Blue Skies and White Fluffy Clouds Bubble Bar I was really looking forward to using it after loving the Comforter Bubble Bar as much. The bright colouring and swirls on the Bubble bar makes it quite noticeable in the Lush Shop as it stands out a little from the others ones in the range. I think that the bubble bar looks really similar to that of a decorative piece of handmade soap; it has the same appearance and feel to a bar of soap, as it is quite hard to the touch and doesn't have a sticky, powdery or greasy feel to it. The Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar which I bought from Lush cost me £3 for a huge 100g piece. £3 for a Bubble Bar might sound expensive for some; however this bubble bar doesn't only last for one bath, you can cut it into a few pieces and get more than one bath out of it. I split my 100g bubble bar into four pieces and got four lovely bubbly baths out of it; if you like to be greedy you could just lob the full 100g bar into the bath and end up with mountains and mountains of bubbles. However I think that a full 100g piece of the Sunny Side would produce far too many bubbles in the bath and the scent may be to strong and overpowering. Not to mention the fact that the bottom of the bath could get a little slippy because of the sheer amount of essential oils which are in the bubble bar slice.
Using the bubble bar couldn't be easier all you have to do is decide how much of it you are going to use, break off the required amount and add it to running bath water so as it dissolves and creates loads of fluffy bubbles. I found that the piece I used dissolved in the water really quickly as I crumbled it up a bit so as the pieces were smaller and dissolved a lot quicker. The first thing I noticed about the bubble bar was the fact that it turned the bath water a lovely sky blue colour and it created quite a strong vibrant fragrance as it reacted with the hot steamy bath water. The aroma which the bubble bar created wasn't too strong nor overpowering; it had an extremely fresh, vibrant aroma. The bubbles produced by the bar looked the same as any other bubbles which you would get from a liquid bubble bath, they were white, fluffy and thick and lasted for well over thirty minutes whilst I relaxed in the bath.
Whilst in the bath the water felt really soft and the scent from the bubble bar was gorgeous, I would describe the scent as being really warm, slightly spicy, earthy and rich. The slightly spicy aroma from the bubble bar which was the most prominent was the scent of Cinnamon, the Cinnamon scent smelt really natural and not at all synthetic or fake. The lovely Cinnamon scent was complimented perfectly by the addition of Patchouli and Frankincense. As I previously stated the Bubble Bar contains some essential oils which not only benefit our skin and body but they are also good for your mind and well being as they have aromatherapy properties.
Whilst in the bath surrounded with the aroma and bubbles from the bubble bar I noticed that the bath water felt really smooth and silky to the touch and it felt really gentle on my skin and not at all harsh or irritating. After bathing my skin felt a lot softer and more moisturised than it did before I bathed, my skin felt so soft that I didn't feel the need to apply a separate moisturiser as the bubble bar seemed to moisturise my skin enough. However one of the most noticeable benefits of using the bubble bar was the fact that my skin was really fragranced and so was the bathroom. The warm rich scent which the bubble bar left on my skin lingered for a good three hours or so before it gradually faded away and could no longer be smelt. The scent also lingered in the bathroom for quite sometime as well; I would say that the aroma lingered in the air of the bathroom for approximately an hour and a half before it faded away.
Another great thing about the bubble bar is the fact that it doesn't leave a blue coloured ring or a sticky tacky residue in or around the bath. The only thing which it leaves in the bath is a few bubble which are easily rinsed away with some water.
As I mentioned earlier the bubble bar contains Essential Oils which are not only good for your skin and body but also your mind as they help you to feel relaxed and soothed. The essential oils which are in the bubble bar are as follows ~
Patchouli ~ is extracted from the leaves of the Patchouli plant which is a small bushy green herb like plant which grows up to heights of 1meter. Patchouli Oil is well known to help fight the symptoms of depression and anxiety. As for skin care benefits using Patchouli Essential Oil can help clear up cellulite, stimulate the regeneration of new skin cells, helping to reduce the redness associated with scar tissue.
Cinnamon ~ is extracted from the leaves of the Cinnamon tree using steam distillation which extracts the Cinnamon Essential Oil. The Cinnamon tree grows to heights of 45 feet tall and produces lots of small sized green leaves as well as small white flowers and purple coloured berries. As for health and well being benefits Cinnamon Essential Oil is used to help combat the feelings of depression, weakness and exhaustion. Cinnamon Essential oil is also very good for your skin as it has a mild antiseptic property, and it also has some antibiotic properties as well which help fight the cause on infections.
Frankincense ~ has a really warm, deep and slightly sweet musky aroma. In aromatherapy uses frankincense has many uses and benefits and can be used to help anxiety, asthma, bronchitis, extreme coughing, scars, stress, stretch marks. As well as the uses already mentioned Frankincense Oil can also be used to help you feel calm and relaxed as well as helping to heal blemished or ageing skin.
I am really pleased with the results achieved from using the Lush Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar that it is another Lush product I will continue to purchase on a regular basis for a pamper treat. It not only smells fantastic but it also softens and moisturises my skin as well as leaving it silky smooth and soft to the touch. If you haven't tried any of the lush products before I highly recommend that you do so as you wont be disappointed my the results. I prefer to use the bubble bars as you can use them more than once if you split them up into smaller pieces; where as with a bath bomb you can only really use them once or twice if you half them and you don't get very many bubbles with them either. So if you like loads of bubbles and a lovely sky blue coloured bath water than I highly recommend that you consider trying the Lush Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar.
If you like the sound of the Lush Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar then you can purchase it online or in store from Lush. However I find that purchasing some of the Lush products online compared to in store can be a little expensive as the Flosty Gritter costs £3 for a 100g piece in store where as it costs £3.25 online.
