“ Brand: Lush / Type: Body Butter / Texture: Rich Cream / Suitable for: Body / What it does: Enricheses „
A few years ago Lush did an offer where if you purchased 2 body butters, which are bars for the bath and are designed to make your skin feel soft and buffered, you'd get a free Lush tin to store them...(or rather one) in. The body butters themselves were expensive then and now. I think I paid around £5 for each one - please don't ask what came over me... Sadly for any hardcore Lush fans, I don't think they've done this offer for a while now so if you wish to get this 65% recycled aluminium container, you must pay up £2.95.
By my (rough) measurements, the tin is about 7x7x2.5cm and is a cuboid shape as shown. It has its own square lid with a raised 'Lush' logo. The website description includes the following sentence: "Our square tins were designed with our body butter shapes in mind, so you can snugly fit our best-selling Buffy to take it to the gym, holidays or when you need a scrub on the go." I did use it for my Aqua Mirabilis body butter and at the beginning it was a joy to carry it in my Lush tin. As time wore on though, and my body butter became flatter with less perfect edges, it got jammed and had to be scraped out with a kitchen knife! Having said that though, anything smaller than the dimensions of the tin are absolutely perfect. I use it for my Lush dry shampoo that gets damp and a little mushy if left around the bathtub. It is also the perfect container for transporting it in. My tin is around 5 years old and with a little clean has kept its sheen!
Overall I really like this Lush tin, but probably am not ready to paid about £3 each for a few more. I think it IS fantastic that Lush are so environmentally conscious and try to make packaging that is either recyclable or reusable. If the tins were even a pound cheaper, I would buy at least one more. Price aside, it does what it says... on the tin...
LUSH Body Butter TIN
There was a time when if you bought two body butters they gave you a tin free. Those days are long gone but I do still have a couple of my tins as they last really well. I have shampoo bar tins which are smaller and tricky to open, these square ones and a few of the oval massage bar tins too alos free with massage bars at the time I got them.
These body butter tins are better than the shampoo ones as they seem to fit their lids better. It also helps that you are not always putting wet bars in them too I suppose. They are made of the same aluminium and do have secure tight fitting lids that do just sort of lift off when you pull them but don't come off when the tin is stored even tipped on its side.
Now I have stored the body butter bath massage, exfoliating type bars in here and then I make sure I open them before getting wet. These often have a lot of shea butter in them so if you allow that to get on the tin and try to open them with wet hands you do have a bit of a challenge.
Unfortunately for the use of these tins, Lush make their bars in various shapes and sizes so youy do have to elect your bar for storing in here. I have however found lots of bars fit in here from soap to conditioner to shampoo at times so these are very versatile.
They are hard wearing and perfect for travel as they keep whatever you have in them safe and the scent is kept fresher too., they are neat and easily packed in your bag so don't need to be put in a shower bag. They also act as soap dishes for shampoo, conditioner or soap or the butter bars and then just dry them off and pack them away. Don't do what I nearly did and leave it behind in the hotel!
When at home I don't bother using the tin and just have mine on a soap dish as we have an ensuite bathroom that only my husband and I use so no one will accidentally use the butter bar, shampoo or conditioner as soap. I do store my excess supplies in the tins a they do keep the items freher and lock in the scent more than just keeping them in drawers.
The tins are very strong and solid and I have now had mine well over five years and they are well travelled as they come everywhere with me. None of my various tins are bent or damaged and they do still open and shut as easily as they ever have done if I remember to do this before I get myself wet.
The trick is to ensure the lids and tins do not get product on the bit where the two meet and if you are putting wet items inside then try to dry them off a bit first. Secondly if you are taking the tin to use the contents in a shower or bath then open the lid firt and maybe even take the bar out o that the tin does not get wet.
Would I spend good money or another tin? Probably not as I have found that recycling plastic pots of convenient size with a screw top lid does just as good a job and in fact that is what I use for my solid conditioner. My tins were 'free' but I really don't think they are worth spending good money on. Buy some toiletry item in a screw top plastic pot that looks a good size and wash it out when you have finished and that is not only cheaper but you get to use the cream or whatever first.
Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same username.
The Lush Tin
= = = = = =
I purchased the square tin from lush and it cost me £2.95 which I didn't think was too bad. The tins are made from 65% recycled aluminium and are the perfect shape for storing body butters, soap, solid deodorants, face cleansers and the solid conditioner bars which can all be purchased from Lush. I personally use mine to store body butter in as they are the perfect shape and size and are made to fit the body butter products in. The tin is perfect for when you are going on holiday or away for the weekend as you can pop your body butter in the tin knowing it won't get bashed about whilst travelling. The tin is square and is a shiny silver metal colour. On the lid of the tin are the words Lush which are embossed and slightly raised. The lid simply pulls off to reveal the space in which you can put your product in to keep it safe.
Using the Tin
= = = = = =
I purchased a tin a few months ago, just so I could store my body butter in it to keep it safe when in the bathroom. I thought the tin was a brilliant idea and it can re-used so would be perfect for when I purchase different body butters from Lush. I find the tin easy to open, even with wet hands and although the lid stays firmly on the tin it I find that it can easily be removed even with wet hands. I do find that the tin can get a little messy from using the product, how-ever the tine can be wiped with a damp cloth and it looks like new again. I have currently got my Aqua Mirabils body butter in; how-ever once I have finished using this I will give it a wipe clean and then store my Buffy Body Butter in the tin. I find the tin really convenient and it keeps the body butters neat and tidy and free from creating any mess in the bathroom which I find the products can sometimes do when they are wet and you leave them on the side ready to use for next time.

I think the tins are a brilliant idea whether you are just using them to store your body butters in at home or whilst on the move this will keep them safe. In terms of value I think the tin is reasonably priced and is also long lasting. As previously mentioned I have had my current tin for a few months and I regularly wipe it clean with a damp cloth and it always comes out looking as good as new. I would recommend this tin to others to keep your products in, and it doesn't necessarily have to be one of the body butters from lush. This would make a good gift if you purchased a body butter to go in the tin. The tin is quite strong and it holds the lid firmly in place so you don't need to worry about the lid falling on whilst you are on your travels. This is a great tin from Lush to store your body butters.
(review also on ciao)
I am a bit of a Lush addict and regularly buy all manner of products from Lush....infact I can't even walk passed the Lush shop without popping in for a little something! I got a Lush Body Butter Tin amongst a pack of Lush stuff I got from a friend for Christmas. The tin currently costs £2.95 from Lush stores.
The tin itself is silver and has a lid with the name "Lush" embossed onto it. It looks fairly stylish and wouldn't look out of place in anyone's bathroom.
The tin is designed, as the name suggests, to put Lush body butter in it. The Lush body butters usually come wrapped in a wax type paper when you buy it as like all Lush products the emphasis is on minimal packaging. Therefore having a reusable container for the body butters is a good idea as keeping the body butter either wrapped in the waxy paper or just on the side in the bathroom is not ideal. I currently have the Aqua Mirabilis butter and the You Snap The Whip butter - both of which are square and fit perfectly within this tin.
My only gripe with this tin is that it is fairly difficult to get the lid off this tin when your hands are wet....and as you're most likely to use this in the shower, the tin really could benefit from having something on it which gives it a bit of texture so taking the lid off is easier. I have already found myself on one occasion not using the body butter bar because I can't be bothered to battle with the lid!
Lush sell little blocks of Body Butters which are great, especially the Soft Touch but body butters of the solid kind can be problematic to store. No worries, Lush has that covered with this cute metal tins.
The tin should cost £2.95 but if you purchase two body butters then you get a tin to keep them in for free though body butters do cost around £5 each.
The tin is metal and square in shape. It is a brushed silver colour and has the Lush logo embossed on the lid. It does fit every body butter Lush sells apart from the bigger sized Buffy and Kings of Skin though according to people on the Lush Forum after one or two uses of the these body butters they will fit into the tin easily. I have not tried this so cannot say for sure if it does work.
I would say to let your body butter completely dry before putting it back in the tin as otherwise the tin will turn slimey and bits of body butter will dry and flake on it. It looks awful. The lid shuts nice and tightly on the regular sized body butters and you always know it is closed properly by an audiable clip sound. I have taken my body butters everywhere with me as the tin is small enough to fit into a handbag.
One thing I will say is do not leave the body butter and tin near heat. I did once with the Soft Touch and it had completely turned to liquid and leaked everywhere. It was pretty messy I have to say.
If you finish using your body butter and have no interest to buy another just yet then the tin can be used for a variety of other things, for example:
I definately recommend the tin, it is well made and does not dent easily. Another great product from Lush.
Body In The Trunk!
==Lush Body Butter Tin==
I am terrible when I go into a Lush store or even when I do an online purchase and can't help but spend way too much money on far too many products that I probably don't really need. I will always by my favourite items on each trip and then other bits and pieces which I haven't tried out before.
The reason I ended up with this Body Butter Tin was the fact that when you buy two of the body butters you get this little tin free and me being me and never one to miss a free item always buy two of my favourite body butters at the same time in order to get the free item (not sure if this is false economy or not!?!). The Lush tin is available to purchase on its own but does cost a little under the £3 mark which does make it a better offer getting a couple of body butters and having it as a free item!
Anyhow the tin is designed specifically to put a body butter in and is a nice square shape to do this fitting most of the regular sized body butters inside. It is a lightweight silver coloured tin material which has the LUSH logo embossed into the lid and looks rather smart.
I must confess to having quite a little collection of these as I find them not only useful for storing the body butters in but for a whole host of other things too. I have one to keep all my stud earrings in and another which has my rings in so they are generally a nice handy little tin with hundreds of uses!
The first time I used it with a body butter, I was in the shower and got a fair bit of water side the tin when replacing the body butter and this caused quite a stuck situation next time I came to use the product so I would say make sure you don't get the bar or the tin overly wet.
The tin lid is not the easiest to get off with wet hands either so I would always suggest opening it before getting in the shower to avid any naked struggle! Plus my first tin was kept by the bath and what with the water splashes and condensation from other baths and showers ended up going a little rusty and generally unappealing looking so again make sure the tin is kept dry and this is easily avoided!
Overall I think for a free gift this is a nice little item. I am not sure that I would buy it on its own as the body butters are lovely to use so it would be worth getting a couple to enjoy and having this as a freebie!
I think you really can't go wrong with a little tin such as this and of course it gets top marks of 5 out of 5 stars and a high recommendation!
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
As well as producing several solid body butters, which need to be used in the shower, Lush also make these metal body butter tins to keep them in. The tin retails at £2.95, but you get one free if you buy two body butters - I've got quite a few of these tins as I always buy my body butters in pairs!
The tin is square in shape and has the Lush logo printed on top. It is suitable to fit every body butter, except for the big Buffy, and King of Skin (though according to reviews on the Lush site, King of Skin fits after you've used it only once). It's best to let the body butter dry after you've used it, though, before putting the lid back on. The lid shuts securely and doesn't come off. It's ideal for travelling, going on holiday, to the gym, to a friend's house - whatever!
You don't have to just keep body butters in the tin, though. It is also suitable for Lush's solid deodorant, soaps, solid skincare - you name it, if it fits, you can use it. It's really versatile.
You don't even have to keep toiletries in it! The tin can be used for jewellery, bits of makeup, even a mini sewing kit.
This tin is great and I really recommend it. I can't give it less than 5 stars, especially considering if you're savvy with buying 2 body butters at once, you never even have to pay for it!
Firstly, I am going to begin by saying I'm going to keep this review fairly concise as it is only on a body butter tin, therefore do not expect copious amounts of information as there is only so much that can be covered.
A body butter tin may seem like a silly thing to write a review on, however I have found this little tin handy for various reasons, and feel that I should share this with you.
This tin is the perfect size for storing the body butters in conviniently, therefore storing them effectively and minimising the amount of mess all over your bathroom. As with many Lush products, they can become quite messy if they are not stored effectively, and once these tins were introduced I was sure to stock up on them.
Each tin costs £2.95 which I feel is quite a reasonable price as they are very durable and I can see that they will last for quite some time. As well as this, with the purchase of two body butters in store or online, you can pick up one of these tins completely free.
As you can see from the image, the tin is square in shape (the same as the body butters) and is just plain silver with the Lush logo embedded on the front. They aren't the most aesthetically pleasing tins I've ever seen, however they are still quite sleek and simple, and do the job effectively.
My favourite thing about this particular product is that it is bigger than the massage bar tin and the shampoo bar tin, therefore making it a convenient place to store more goods rather than just the body butters. I personally do not use the body butters therefore I use this tin to store my shower jellies in, as it is easy to open up, break a little off and close the lid again.
This tin is effective for storing body butters, soaps, shampoo bars, shower jellies, smaller massage bars, bath melts and some Lush deodorants. Even if you do not use Lush items, it is still a handy little tin for storing smaller goods in.
The tin itself works effectively and opens and closes quickly and easily, however there is one problem I have encountered with it. This is that when you put wet products in to it, it can become very messy and slippery and quite hard to handle. I found this problem when storing my soaps within the body butter tin, so just watch out for that!
Overall, I'm very impressed with this tin as it is only £2.95 and works a dream, and it is worth buying two body butters to get a freebie! I am going to knock off a star because it isn't the most attractive tin, and it can become messy quite easily, however this is expected.
If you are interested in this tin it is available in Lush stores or online at www.lush.co.uk. Thanks for reading!
When I went to one of the Lush store to buy some solid shampoos and soaps I could not resist this Body Butter tin in particular. Compared to the other lush tins this one seemed bigger and with a more logical shape then the others. It's square shape makes it ideal for an wide range to products to store and carry with me, Lush or non-Lush, this is highly functional can be very handy even for storing all sort bits and bobs also.
The tin measures 2.90 inches long (or wide, it's a square! lol) and costs £2.95.
I like to carry with me every time when I go away from home and keep my soap in it, I always take soap with me as I find the ones provided by hotels are of cheap quality and dry my skin. What is really cool about it is that I can remove the top and this by itself can be used as an extra soap dish.
What is really cool about it is that it does not rust and keeps it's shinny metal aspect in time. If you think about it is quite eco-friendly and I used it over and over again.
Bad points: Well I can't think of any but perhaps its could have something pretty like a flower embodied on it instead of the Lush logo.
Lush is a natural cosmetic shop with branches all throughout the country and online. All products are not tested in animals and vegetarian, with some products being vegan. many of the products they sell are 'naked' and come with no packaging, such as bath ballistics, body butters, massage bars, soaps, soild shampoo's and solid conditioners. Lush then created a range of tins to store your favourite products in. There is a square tin perfect fpr body butters, soap or solid jungle conditioner. There are round tins designed with solid shampoo bars, oval shapes with was great for massage bars and facial serum bars.
This tin costs £2.95 but if you buy two body butters (or sometimes massage bars) you can get one for free! This square tin is also great for keeping in other Lush products such as solid conditioner bars, massage bars, soap etc. It is made from recycled tin and is aprox 255g in weight, it measures aprox 5cm x 5xm and 3cm in thickness. It is air tight so will stop your products from drying out or for getting water logged and mushy.
I find these a great idea for storing your Lush items in. They are great for taking your products on holiday, swimming, to the gym or wherever. It is strong enough to keep the product undamaged. Also a good size for keeping in your handbag incase you want to carry around a hand butter or soap.
The only down side is that if your product is wet when you put it in the tin it can get stuck to the tin and become slightly ackward to get out however a few gentle taps should do the trick.
Overall a great storage idea especially if you buy 2 or more massage bars, body butters etc and get it for free !
omg i love this tin , i only discovered lush a few months ago when i was looking for products for my wedding and bought some body butter and i was given this tin to put it in and i take it everywhere with me its very handy and keep my cream bar perfect , all my mates have been into lush to buy a body bar and to buy a tin , i would recomend it to anyone the lush shop is the best shop ive shopped in its very addictive .
Lush body butter tins are available from Lush stores and online for £2.89 a piece or for free if you buy 2 body butters in one transaction. I like to take advantage of this offer because I really like the body butters and it's much easier to have something more than just some grease proof paper to store them in.
Lush are a very green company and therefore try to use as little packaging as they possibly can. They're also very much into recycling when they do need to use packaging (i.e. face masks come in pots and when you give them 5 pots to recycle, they'll give you a free face mask as a thank you).
This body butter tin is a square shape and one of the larger tins you can get from Lush. They're made to fit the body butters perfectly. They're made of metal and are reusable, which is very good for the environment as you won't need to replace it by throwing it away and buying a new one. It's a very handy tin and has kept my body butters stored conveniently and dry, just how I want them to be kept whilst not in use.
The Lush body butters usually come in this square shape just like the tin, so it's easy to store them in. If you do happen to have a different shaped or larger body butter, you can cut them up with a large knife to fit into your tin and just store the rest in the paper bag to use at a later date.
I like the offer they have on of buy 2 body butters get a free tin as I do like to use these often and take them with me on holiday or little trips away. Without these, I often find that my body butters start to melt in the paper bag or grease proof paper they give you and I definitely wouldn't want them to start melting and going to waste.
So, here I am with another Lush review. Sorry if you are all getting sick of them, but reviewing Lush products is the only way that I feel that I can justify buying them, since I'm not exactly rolling in cash at the moment, and buying luxury items such as Lush products should be out of the question. I'm now not allowing myself to buy any new ones until I've saved up enough from dooyoo to pay for it, and so to do that I have to review everything that I already have. I have had this body butter tin for a few months now, and so feel that I should be getting around to reviewing it.
Before Christmas, I went to Lush with my birthday money to by myself a couple of things. I got myself an Up You Gets Emotibomb, which was a bit of a disappointment (see my review), along with two solid body butters. I was only planning on buying the one body butter, but since the staff in the shop told me that I would get a free tin if I bought two, I thought that I may as well buy another one as well. After all, I needed somewhere to keep the butter, and so getting this tin for free was an offer that I couldn't refuse.
The Lush Body Butter Tin is a fairly small square cuboid with a square top and base, which is slightly bigger than most of the body butters available in Lush. This tin is where you're meant to keep your body butters when you're not using them, and they're useful for transporting the butter bars around in when you want to take them somewhere. There's not an awful lot more that I can say about these tins, except for the fact that they do their job well, and stay in pretty good condition even after you've had them for a while. The lid is easy to remove, yet stays on even when it's bungling about in a bag or a suitcase, so you don't have to worry about it opening and body butter going everywhere. The tin is fairly light though feels good quality.
The Lush website says that to buy one of these tins will set you back £2.89, which I would say is a bit expensive, so I would say that you should only get one if it's for free. Since most of the body butters are around the £5 mark anyway, if you want to buy one, you may as well buy another to go with it for the free tin, as getting another butter bar won't set you back much more than the tin would. Overall, this is a good tin and is useful for what it does, but I wouldn't recommend spending money on it.
For people on the go! Take your body butter with you!
