Advantages: Soft, gorgeous scents
Disadvantages: Little Bit pricey
Lush is certainly that. Very, very lush indeed!! Lush is a company that has shops nationwide and makes all sorts of Hair, face, bath, body products from natural ingredients like lemons, grapefruit, strawberries pineapple and banana and so on (the list is endless). They make it all at the factory in Poole (which is where l shop). All their products are suitable for Vegetarians and some for Vegans. Some of the products look good enough to eat. There are so many, they have too vast an array to mention. There are face masks, soaps, moisturizers, shampoos, perfumes, hand creams, bath bombs (they fizz into life when you throw one into your bath and add a gorgeous scent with bits (of for example, rose petals) and many many other things. When you walk into the shop its like the most powerful smelling aroma in the world, so many different scents and aromas all mingling together. The staff are very helpful and had no problem showing me around the shop and telling me what each product was used for. It was very informative and interesting, l was there about 1/2 an hour. I settled on a couple of bath bars. They are Bubble Bath Slices and the one l chose was called Bathos and gave me a deeply voilet scented bath. It says of this product, l quote, ‘These herbs are tradionally known for their afrodisiac properties and aparantly work by making you very relaxed and helping your limbs to go floppy (can’t see how that would help in the afrodisiac stakes!). Pliny (whoever he was) said Violet leaves strenthen the heart and calms anger’. They are supposed to be relaxing and l found them to be so. They are chalky, creamy, soapy, lumps that are made in huge bars and are cut into 100g peices for sale, it looks like soap mixed with chalk. (Not the most appealing looking thing in all the world). You crumble a bit (about 50p size) of one (it would have to be a bit at £1.55 per 100g bar) into running water and swis
h. Hot is best but be careful not to burn your fingers and the bit of bar crumbles very easily into the water turning it a delightful voilet colour. The other immediate thing you notice is that there are bubbles and quite a lot of them too (though if you wash with soap the bubbles immediatly dissappear, so don’t wash until you’ve had enough of the bubbles). The water is very soft . When you get into the bath its like slipping between silken sheets (isn’t that poetic). It really does soften the water and smells divine. You feel relaxed after a little while soaking and when you get out your skin is really soft and smells very faintly of the violets. In my bar there contained :- Sodium Bicarbonate Cream of Tartar Sodium Laureth Sulphate Glycerine Perfume Cocoamide Violet Leaf Absolute Rose Absolute Jasmine Absolute Ylang Ylang Oil Bergamot Oil and Clove Bud Oil Quite a lot but all sounds quite natural. Other Bubble Bars are Flying Saucers (get rid of anger), Amandopondo (rose for forgiveness), Blue Skies and Fluffly white clouds (with Patchoulli and Cinnamon) and Aura Suavis (with geranium and Sage), all lovely l am told it is very difficult to choose a favourite as they are all gorgeous. You can buy this product and almost all Lush products anywhere in the country online by looking at www.Lush.co.uk. They are aparantly very quick with their packaging turnaround because there are no preservatives in any of their products so they have a limited shelf life. All in all, thumbs up for Lush.

- 31/03/01 I think I'll have to buy some stuff from here to get between my 'silken sheets' as you recommend. I think I have seen a shop in Guildford where some friends live so I may go when I next visit them. Does anyone know of any other shops? |
