Advantages: Lovely smell
Disadvantages: Well over-priced, Small stupid children may eat it!
And into the ring steps Emma! Well come on people, being of the girlie species it was inevitable that my op career would include at least one lot of scribbling about Lush and here it is!! As all females know Lush is THE standard present for Crimbo, particularly from blokes, whether its because its ready wrapped and takes no effort or whether they really do care! When it comes to my partner I prefer to think its the latter, and that's where I get most of my Lush goodies from. I used to buy these products when they were from 'Cosmetics to Go', then they disappeared and finally Lush appeared in their current guise and opened a shop in Bristol. So of course I had to pop in ( I also found my mate working in there who I have seen for months, who's rather pregnant and getting married in 11 weeks times, small world!!) And was horrified.! Even allowing for inflation I swear the price has tripled. So unfortunately this organic, animal friendly, vegetarian, vegan shops products are a luxury rather than an everyday thing. And another thing, if its got no preservatives, etc, no paying for animal testing, no fancy wrapping, etc why the hell is it more expensive than those using the above? Ah well, that what you get for being an environmentally friendly citizen. And doesn't everyone agree that the first thing that happens when you go into a Lush shop is start to sneeze and of course Bristol is no different. So once my nostrils had settled down, I headed over to my favourite section, the bubble bars. And there was what I was looking for, my nose led me first, looking suspiciously like lumps of pink nougat or marzipan with a pretty flower on top, I know our kids aren't stupid but the fact that they smell like sweeties as well may leave a few kids with nasty tastes in their mouths! They really do smell of sweeties and a lovely aroma of vanilla, my favourite smell. Into my corner entered the Creamy Candy Bubble Bar Even after balk
ing at the price £1.40 for 100g (a bar) I bought two, one goes into the bathroom and the other................goes into my knicker drawer! Actually all my underwear is in there and it makes it all smell gorgeous, don't take it out the packet, just open it! Sexy? Of course! So what you have to do is crumble it under running water, herein lies the first problem. If I had a duo tap it would be fine but I don't so have a bit of a problem. There's the hot water tap which will eventually burn the skin off my fingers or under the cold tap which turns them to ice and turns the bubble bar to a sludgy mess. So it has to be crumbled under the water, does the job. I did read a review last year that said you only needed a third of a bar but I beg to differ. I use practically a whole bar to get a mound of bubbles. But oh, it smells gorgeous, like a big sweetie shop, just as I imagine Willy Wonkas factory to smell. Like sticking your nose into a bag of marshmallows! Bah, as usual, there's gritty bits on the floor of the bath which take a bit of dissolving, but at last I sank back into a lovely mound of bubbles. When I eventually stepped out of the bath, ignoring the wrinkly fingers and toes my skin felt soft and lovely and smelt gorgeous. But I don't think the bubble bar added anything to the cleanliness of my skin, it was definitely the soap (Rock Star) which did the job. Its a good job that Lush do a soap that smells like this bubble bar. Its not something I'd pick all the time, just way too expensive, its Boots natural vanilla range for everyday use. There's really nothing to match the smell though, hmmm, wonder if Lush have ever thought about branching into the perfumes market? So I get into the scented undies, slip on my black satin robe and go off to show Alan just how much of a sweetie I can be!!
