Advantages: Lovely and fragrant

Disadvantages: The pot

When I was younger and I mean about the age of 5-10 for some reason I had to have talc in my socks! There was a logical reason for this! I absolutely hated sweaty feet and still do to this day. And it seems that school socks created really sweaty feet. However my five year obsession quickly came to an end when I went to secondary school.

Since the age of 11 years I have never since used talc until about three years ago! And it wasn't just for my feet! I used to work in a solicitors firm which was based in a really old building, with no inbuilt air conditioning so in the summer we had to put up with fans and windows that didn't open more than about 5 inches! It ended up getting that bad my boss couldn't wear a suit and the ladies ending up all in skirts and t-shirts! I tried using talc as I was sick of getting that womanly glow (sweat!) all day. However talc proved far too problematic as it causes white marks and comes through the clothes. A few days into my talc ordeal I received my copy of Lush times promoting their dusting powders! What an ingenious idea!

Fortunately at the time I only worked around the corner from a Lush store and on my lunch wondered in to see what these dusting powers are all about! Basically they are designed to keep you skin smooth and keep excessive moisture away. I ended up buying quite a few dusting powders (I don't do anything by halves!). One of them I chose was Candy Fluff because of its scent. For those of you already familiar with Lush, Candy Fluff smells just like Rock Star Soap. The scent is like creamy, sugary sweet candy with maybe a bit of vanilla. It's very hard to describe. And where the scent of Rock Star dissipates at shower's end, Candy Fluff's scent lingers on the skin for a few hours.

There are two groups of people who will love the scent of Candy Fluff Dusting Powder; those who love Lush's sweeter scents (especially Melting Marshmallow Moments Bath Melt, Snow Fairy Shower Gel, Rock Star and Candy Fluff Ballistic - all of which share the same basic musk and candy floss fragrance) and those who don't mind sweeter scents, but find the above products to be a bit too overbearingly sweet.

Candy Fluff generally smells much sweeter in the pot than it does on the skin; it evens itself out to become quite delicate and fresh, with its synthetic musk note supplying you with a more sophisticated air - one that is hardly overpowering or sickly which is perfect for use everyday. The only reason why it smells so much more in the pot is down to the fact it's so compacted.

And the texture of this powder is far better than most of Lush's Dusting Powders; even when applied to damp skin, its cornstarch and talc base is easily blended into the skin, leaving no white streaks or marks, which is great if you're wearing darker clothing. When poured from the pot and directly applied with your hands, it doesn't have a tendency to "cake" either, which if your like me and prefer to apply it on your hands (or powder puff) then this is great. The consistency of Candy Fluff is very nice. It does not have that super fine consistency of baby powder. It is still very fine but the consistency is somehow a little heavier and more substantial.

There are two downsides, however. One of course, is indeed the pot; it's notoriously leaky, and the lid doesn't allow for a sparing application in the least. Hence, I strongly advise that you store this powder in your own tightly sealed pot until Lush changes their current packaging to something a bit more practical not only for application, but also for travel purposes. The post reminds me of a salt pot or even a synthetic parmesan pot, where you can opt for a lot or a little!

The other downside only applies if you're hoping for a lasting coverage of glitter. Containing gold and iridescent twinkles, Candy Fluff's minimally sparkly nature initially provides skin with an elegantly understated shimmer, but even those of us who can only handle glitter in small doses can't help but feel saddened by how quickly this ultra-fine glitter disappears, with much of it being lost in any rubbed on application, and the rest managing to make an early exit of its own volition.

The way I use Candy Fluff is relatively simple! After I get out of the shower a dry myself with the towel and I just either put a bit on my hands or on a powder puff and dab sparingly and evenly on my skin. And that's it! There is no specific way of apply a Lush dusting powder. Just don't use too much as you may well be left with white marks and your skin can't absorb as much! Your skin is left silky and smooth with a lovely fragrant scent.

What Lush say:-

Super-twinkly body powder with an inviting scent of sweet shops.
Candy Fluff is so much more than just fluffy; it's very, very sparkly too with golden sparkles and iridescent twinkles. It smells like a candy shop. No, even better, it smells like the good fairy's sweetie workshop when she's stockpiling ready for a candy festival. You'll either love it or you'll hate it. If you adore sweet scented, sparkly things this is for you (or your girlfriend).

Candy Fluff is available in store and online for £5.63 for a pot weighing 80g. Yes I think it does seem rather expensive but however it lasts for a long time especially when you use it sparingly or if you're like me and have a choice of a few to choose from in the morning!!

Summary: All of the above!
