***Background***

I love Lush products and my bloke was buying a present for a relative from my favourite shop when he was given this festive bath ballistic as a freebie. Probably due to the fact that he was spending loads and none of it was on me at the time. I think the shop assistant felt sorry for me.

I don’t usually buy bath ballistics – quite simply because I never seem to have much time to laze around in a warm bath for long. There’s always one of the kids who ends up knocking on the door asking how long they have to keep crossing their legs for. When I get a free one though, I kick them all out or make sure they are busy so I can stretch out with a good book and relax.

Lush is a fairly popular make and it would be wrong of me to go into lots of company details as most people on here have either read about their many products or visited one of their many shops or the website. One thing I will say is that the Lush website has changed recently in the UK and you can access the range at their sister company’s site www.bnevertoobusytobebeautiful.com.

***What Is A Bath Ballistic?***

Bath Ballistics are lovely scented pieces of sodium bicarbonate, which fizz and dissolve when they come in contact with your bathwater. Most of them are round in shape but occasionally you get a moulded one like this. I like to wait until there is a good 3 or 4 inches of water in my bath before I drop on in with the warm water still running as I feel that this not only helps it to dissolve fully but mixes it in better too.

***The Product***

I believe that this product can be bought in the round form of Fairy Jasmine which is much more cost effective if just buying for yourself as you can get 200g for £2.40. This moulded fairy version is only 130g but costs £2.25 so it looks better as a gift but costs quite a bit more for the privilege of looking good.

The oils in the Christmas Carol are mainly Jasmine but there is also a sniff of the intoxicating and stimulating Ylang Ylang and some Vetivert Oil in there too and this helps give it a bit of a lemongrass scent. There is one other very special ingredient in this fairy shaped ballistic that I didn’t realise was in there before I stepped in the bath and that is glitter. Yes girls – this is not one to share in a bath with your bloke and not one to waste for a quiet night in with a DVD. This is one to use before you are off out to party.

***My Thoughts***

As with most of the bath ballistics I find that I can usually get away with breaking a 200g one into 2 or 3 pieces but with this one being smaller I decided to just break it into 2 before popping one half of it into my warm running bath.

I noticed instantly that it looked like small shiny bubbles in the water and remember thinking how pretty it looked, as well as smelling the lovely aroma of jasmine that was rapidly filling up my bathroom. Unfortunately, because I hadn’t bought this one specially, I hadn’t realised that the innocent looking angel was in fact full of glitter, so it came as quite a surprise when I jumped in the bath and looked down at myself as all I could see was glitter. Luckily I was in a good mood and saw the funny side of it, as did the rest of my family. My bloke couldn’t wait to see what I was laughing at or was that just the chance to see me without my winter woollies for once. He quickly passed on the news to my daughters and soon I could here them laughing in the kitchen too.

After the hilarity had settled, I sank down to enjoy my bath, being very careful not to get it in my hair as I didn’t want the hassle of removing it along with my shampoo. The scent from the oils was lovely and intoxicating. They put me in a lovely relaxed state and I could feel how soft my skin was after only about 10 minutes in the bath. I was really pleased that I had only used half of this ballistic, as it was more than enough both for aroma, the oils and for the amount of glitter in it.

Towelling off was fun with glitter getting chucked everywhere as I dried myself. I found that even with lots all over the floor and even more still in the bottom of the bathtub, I still had it stuck all over me – and I mean all over. I don’t think I have ever sparkled in that way before. This was a shame as I wasn’t going out that night and had to make do with getting into my pjs and settling down in front of the telly, which was a little bit of a waste. My daughters thought the scent that was left in the bathroom afterwards was lovely too, so this would be one that is suitable for both the younger woman or more mature lady.

The next day, my skin still felt very soft and the scent of jasmine and ylang ylang was still very noticeable. Some of the glitter had come off overnight but I did notice that it had spread to my face and hair too. I have quite sensitive skin but I am happy to say that even after languishing in my bath for about 45 minutes, that I have had no adverse reactions. In fact a couple of really dry patches seemed to have cleared up after it, so the moisturising value is definitely worth it.

My only regret is that I would have waited until I had a special night out planned to use this as it did look very pretty and sparkly on me long after I had dried myself off. In fact my mother asked the next day, if I knew that I had glitter down the cleavage of my jumper. I was apparently sparkling everywhere and left a trail of glitter all over the bed too, which stopped my bloke smiling as he went to work with some on him too – but we won’t go into that here.

My daughter has insisted that I keep the rest of this one until my hen night in June/July so I can be a glittering angel – bit late for the angel part but the thought was nice.

Summary: Keep it for nights out partying
