Advantages: Ideal for men!
Disadvantages: The soaps can melt together
After using Lush for years Mr Sweetpea could not see what all the fuss was about! He thought that I should really be saving my hard earned money than spending it on perishable goods which are far too expensive. But isn't this a mans view in general? He thought that supermarket goods were just as good and a lot cheaper. Yes...this is a mans view!! However as I work long hard hours I should be able to spend my money on what I wish (to a degree). In a bid to try and tempt him to the wonderful world of Lush I bought him his first ever Lush product in the shape of a soap stack gift. At under £8.00 I thought this was a cheap way of getting him to use something Lush and best of all he didn't pay for it!!
Dream Boat soap stack is a convenient little gift and at the bottom end of Lush's gift budgets it suits a lot of pockets! Dream Boat contains 100g of Bohemian, Sea Vegetable and Extra Virgin Olive Oil and these tend to be more masculine Lush soaps, however they are both used for men and women but are very unlike the usual pink, sweet soaps. If you are lucky your stack will have individually wrapped soaps in clear celephane so the soaps are not actually touching but the majority just have a single piece of small cardboard in between which does nothing other than go slightly damp!! All three pieces are then tied together with a little bow and finished off with a label and a brief over view of the soaps and whats included.
Bohemian:-
Scented with nothing but lemon, Bohemian is Lush's simplest soap (not to mention one of their oldest, considering Bohemian dates back to Lush's birth in 1995). In the shop, this soap will provide a refreshingly clean, enlivening fragrance, without the slightest trace of tartness. However, not only is Bohemian's lemony freshness overly subtle even at the best of times, but Bohemian is very quick to lose all of its fragrance.
This is consistently true, but even more so with soap slices that do not contain a great deal of whitened chunks, meant to resemble fruit pulp and containing the bulk of Bohemian's lemon oil. Within a mere day or two, this soap's only enticing feature is its sunny colour and the brightening, softening effect it has on your skin. One might assume that lemon, given its acidity, might be drying on the skin. Au contraire!
In this soap's recipe, while lemon's detoxifying properties work wonders on spotty bodies, it also leaves normal to oily skin toned and baby smooth. What a shame that Bohemian's aromatic benefits wind up being positively nonexistent, because its skin care benefits are nothing short of stellar right across the boards.
Sea Vegetable:-
This soap has been around for ages and is a common staple in Lushettes' stashes; never is it absent from Lush's best seller lists. Its lavender & lime fragrance (suitable for both guys & gals) caresses you like a summer island breeze, its sparkling blue appearance immerses you in the sun-kissed waters of the Pacific. Topped with Atlantic sea salt, Arame seaweed, and packed with seaweed absolute, Sea Vegetable is automatically one of the most nourishing soaps on Lush's shelves, perfect for all skin types.
And as if all that weren't enough, this is one of Lush's most voluminously lathering soaps: it makes for an excellent shaving foam, as well. For a full-blown tropical getaway experience, take a look at my review for Big Blue bath bomb (which shares Sea Vegetable's fragrance & colour) for tons of Lush ideas towards creating your own day trip to a private island spa resort by the sea.
Extra Virgin Olive:-
If you like Into Thin Air, our anti-cellulite massage bar, then you'll want to wash with Extra Virgin Olive. This is a smooth, green, translucent soap with a gorgeously refreshing scent. As you'd imagine, it's got nutritious, moisturizing olive oil, then there are masses of stimulating, detoxifying oils like black pepper, grapefruit, fennel, coriander and bay. It makes your mouth water, doesn't it? You can take all these ingredients, make them into a salad and eat it every day for a week or you can wash with them to get your skin into shape. You could even do both.
What Lush say:-
Ideal for your favourite men You have to be careful who you going giving a Dreamboat to, as it sends a bit of a message. As a pack of three citrus scented soaps it's a good gift for men, especially ones you rather like.
This selection of soapy goodness is the ideal gift for any occasion and any recipient. Relax and be soothed when you lather up with olive oil, sea salt and lemon soaps. Give the gift that offers a little indulgence and joy.
Dream Boat soap stack is no longer available from Lush and I don't think it made a real impact as it was yet another "stack" gift set which I think people are getting slightly bored with. Mr Sweetpea does now always have a bar of sea vegetable soap in stock and has slightly softened his view on the whole Lush situation!
Summary: Ideal man's gift to get him into the whole "Lush" thing!
