Advantages: Dramatically Softens Skin, Contains Quality Ingredients Including REAL seaweed bits to exfoliate!
Disadvantages: A Bright Green Traslucent Block which highly CLASHES with my Cream coloured bathroom
Lush? I needn’t introduce you to this innovative toiletries company which is becoming increasingly popular in England. Its fans include Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry; hey if it’s good enough for the celebs...then it’s definitely good enough for us!
You know you get these ''invigorating, revitalising, awakening'' shower gels advertised on TV, oh come on! You guys know what I’m banging on about! The adverts were you see an impossibly beautiful woman flaunting her impossibly radiant skin, and then suddenly she finds herself turning into Sarah Jessica Parker. Impossible! :)( I’m talking about the insane lux advert).
Well those shower gels are filled with CHEAP, ARTIFICAL, UNEFFECTIVE ingredients, I’m not joking either, if you just take 1 glance at the long list of ingredients on the back of the bottle of a few of today’s shower gels you will see that they consist of GHASTLY ingredients, such as sodium laureth sulfate, C1200, Methyleythl paraben etc. This may not mean anything to you guys, but as an 'A-level' Chemistry Student i can confirm that these are cheap ingredients derived from crude oil. Whilst these products are completely harmless, they don’t really bring about any benefits either. If you would prefer to use a product which MAINLY consists of natural, delicious ingredients, carefully selected for their beneficial properties, and you’re willing to fork out a little extra than you usually would, then LUSH is the PERFECT place for you.
The lush soap I am reviewing is called ‘Lush Extra Virgin Olive’ Soap. After attending a university open day in WHITECHAPEL (east London, jack the ripper yikes!) On my way home I decided to get off at the Covent Garden stop as this is were one the lush stores is located. I was extremely exhausted but spoilt for choice; I just stood there and glanced at the enormous range of soaps for around 5-10 minutes! I could see the rather worried looking assistant wonder what on earth I was doing as I stood in the same spot and just spun my head around (looking at soaps) slowly trying to decide which soap too choose! I was also enticed by the enormous range of other products available. Eventually I got fed up and grabbed the nearest pre-sliced bit of soap, paid for it and hurried back to the train station, by now I was feeling severely lethargic and just wanted to go home.
On the train I peered into my bright paper bag and picked up my neatly wrapped soap, I sniffed it and much to my disappointment the smell was extremely mild, like that of a cross between baby lotion and a rubber glove. I was disappointed and began to regret choosing the most boring soap, out of their huge range. Eager to see what the soap looked like I un-wrapped the soap and that wasn’t the end of it, it was extremely hideous! This lush soap is basically a bright LIME GREEN translucent block of soap, with CURLS of seaweed on the bottom. It looked like some young boy’s action toy rather than a natural soap, and it would STICK OUT LIKE A SORE THUMB in my cream and gold tiled gorgeous bathroom. Oh no!
I finally arrived home and despite being very disappointed with the aesthetic appeal and the fragrance of the soap, I was still desperate to try it. I used it in the shower, and it was amazing! I didn’t notice at first, I scrubbed my skin, worked up a lather stepped out the shower and dried off. Slipping my pyjamas on I realised that my skin was extremely soft, this monstrosity of soap had made a huge difference, and even my elbows were smooth! Parts of my body which were usually rough are now silky, it must be all that extra virgin olive oil in the soap! The soap lathers well and I must admit it is quite boring, but its affects are beautiful, I use this for when I shave my legs too, they come out as soft as a baby’s bum. This is the perfect soap for people who have dry hands, i know i suffer from them, especially in the wintery months! I recommend exfoliating the body with a body brush first, smothering yourself in this soap and then rinsing off, you’ll be silky smooth in now time! Bliss.
Oh and by the way this would make a gorgeous stocking filler! The lucky recipient will appreciate their newly soft skin sooo much( thats after they've actually recovered from the hideous appearance of the soap, and pluck up the courage to use it in the bath/shower!)
Summary: Makes Skin beautifully soft, jam packed with natural ingredients, lovely and works well.
