Limited edition Valentine's massage bar from Lush

I'm not the greatest fan of Valentine's Day, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to sample all the limited edition products released by my favourite store, Lush. This year, two of these products are massage bars - rather appropriate for this occasion, as they are designed to be used by couples who want to spend some 'quality time' together!

One of the massage bars is called From Dusk 'Til Dawn. It was designed as an energising product to stimulate and awaken, ready for "anything the night may bring" - although when using the product all the night brought me was a good book and a much-needed night's sleep!

The massage bar is a cone shape, creamy-coloured with a slightly darker, orangey tip. Apparently it was inspired by Madonna's famous cone bra! The bulk of the bar is made up of cocoa butter, Fair Trade shea butter and a touch of illipe butter - all extremely moisturising ingredients which will soften and care for your skin. Moringa, wild orange and Sicilian lemon oils add a refreshing citrusy scent, while ginseng root, guarana seed and ginkgo leaf powders help to energise and awaken. The bar is suitable for vegans.

I thought the bar smelled lovely - really fresh and energising with its uplifting citrus scent. When I came to use the massage bar, I was also impressed. The shape of the bar makes it easy to hold and the pointy end works really well when massaging it into tense muscles. This is a new shape for Lush massage bars and I hope they produce some more like this!

The colour of the bar means that it doesn't stain - I've used chocolate-colour massage bars before and they have a tendency to turn everything brown! The bar melted easily, but not too quickly, so I was able to use just the right amount on my skin.

I used the bar as an intensive moisturiser and it worked really well. Even the next day, my skin felt incredibly soft and I could still detect the scent. Immediately after using, the scent was pretty strong and made me feel refreshed. I've used the bar twice now and I suspect it will last around three more uses, so it does last well. It didn't irritate my skin at all.

The bar is priced at £4.95, which seems reasonable to me for a product of this nature and quality. I do recommend it, as it is a lovely product, so pick one up before Valentine's Day is over!
