Advantages: Smells amazing, it softens and moisturises the skin

Disadvantages: I havent been able to buy it in the UK yet

I have some really lovely friends and I have had some really lovely interns over the past six since I’ve lived and worked in London who come all the way from America to spend six months working for free in an office like mine. One of my last interns came back to the UK for two weeks a few days ago and with her she brought me a present from my favourite store… Lush :o)

One of my all time favourite Lush products are the Bath Ballistics. I love being able to spend an hour or so in a nice hot bath with amazing smelling aromas with a good book and hopefully a nice glass of chilled wine, how perfect is that as a way to relax and chill out? Well for me it is something I relish in doing and something I like to do as often as I can these days.

What is a Bath Ballistic? Well for those of you who are not familiar with Lush and their wonderful products (where have you been?) a Bath Ballistic is a tennis ball shaped bath bombs, which are made up of bicarbonate of Soda which gives them the ‘fizzing effect’ and they are packed full of essential oils, which give off wonderful aromas to help you to relax, unwind and turn your bath water a pretty shade of some colour.

So Jackie, an intern of mine, bless her cotton socks bought me one of Lush’s latest Bath Ballistics called rather amusingly the ‘Haagenbath’ which for her is because of my rather loyal affection to the Ice-cream Haagen-Dazs.

The Haagenbath Ballistic is bright pink in colour and has the Lush logo stamped upon the top of it and within the pink colour there are flakes of a brown coloured substance which turned out to be grated chocolate and it would definitely stand out in any Lush shop due to its bright pink colour. This Bath Ballistic retails for $5.95 in the USA and within the UK that equates to around £3 but as it hasn’t yet appeared on the UK Lush website I don’t know the actual price.

When using your Bath Ballistic it is suggested by Lush that you place your Bath Ballistic into a bath a of warm running water and once the tap is running at that nice warm temperature, or in my case very warm because I like hot steamy baths, you simply watch it fizz away on its own whizzing and spinning about your bath, slowly turning your water into an amazing bright colour, which I have to admit is not the most exciting colour in the world but the smell was divine.

Once the Ballistic has fizzed away into the water I was ready to get into my very pink coloured bubble filled bath to relax. The aroma given off by this product is almost instant as it begins to fizz away in the water, the smell does remind me of mint chocolate ice-cream and my bathroom was filled with a wonderful aroma. I usually always smell my products before I buy it or use it just to ensure that I will actually like it and as this smelt so heavenly and I didn’t buy it, I couldn’t wait to get into my bath. One other thing that is noticeable is that the mint chocolate smell lingered for a good few hours after my bath filling the house beautifully.

So what contributes to such a wonderful smell? For starters Cocoa Butter which I love the smell of and Almond Oil which wasn’t as noticeable as I thought it would be and both of these ingredients are known for their abilities to moisturise, soften and smooth the skin, Spearmint Oil which you can smell immediately once this product is unwrapped and it is a versatile oil which is used for many complaints and ailments, in this case it is used to help with congested skin, stress, fatigue, skin complaints and to help with moisturisation. Then finally we have Cocoa Powder which is used for its moisture & nourishment elements for your whole body and it helps to draw impurities out of the skin.

As always with Lush there is a whole list of further ingredients, which can be found on the Lush Website. Within most Lush products you will find a lot of essential oils, which are specially picked for each product and I would suggest that you visit the Lush website to read the entire list of ingredients, especially those of you who are pregnant, suffer from epilepsy or have sensitive skin.

You could also snap this product into two pieces for double pleasure, but I would advise you to ensure that you have a mixture of both the brown and white colour parts for both baths to really enjoy it. I however am too greedy and shove the whole thing in for maximum pleasure.

Once again after my lovely luxurious mint chocolate smelling bath, my skin was left feeling totally moisturised, it was a lot softer than it would have been after using my usual bath creams. I also have extremely sensitive skin and often find that I am limited in which products I can use, for example I am allergic to The Body Shop shower creams and gels, but with Lush I haven’t had any problems whatsoever, so that means I can now become a Lush addict and try everything.

So would I recommend this product? I absolutely would without a shadow of a doubt. For those people who enjoy baths as much as I do to relax I don’t think there is an alternative, having now used a Lush Ballistic and a Lush Bubble Bar Slice I don’t think using normal bath creams would be as inviting. As soon as it is available on the UK Lush website I am ordering more.

Also as someone with super sensitive skin I would also suggest their products, but I would advise you to go onto their website and check the ingredients used, they are listed under each product so it is easy to find out.
