Yes I’m back after a long absence. For all of those that remember me on the dooyoo of yesteryear (3 years ago), I used to write a lot of lush and music reviews. I thought it appropriate to start my return by reviewing a lush product that I experienced for the first time yesterday. That is the Honey Bee bath ballistic.

“Yes!” I hear you cry…“it’s a male and he is reviewing lush stuff”, with my sensitive skin they are the key to my indulgent self and this product does not disappoint. Other bath stuff tends to be either ok or make my skin incredibly itchy, generally I know I am ok with lush stuff. Lush stuff tends to be viewed as rather expensive, which I suppose it is, but I look to it more as an indulgent and occasional treat. There is nothing like soaking in a lovely hot bath fragranced by a good bath bomb and letting the fragrance bliss you out. The ingredients being kept as natural as possible tends to bring out the hippy in me and lets me mellow out in the bath in my own “yeah man” kind of way.

After visiting the Norwich branch of Lush, I decided to buy this (amongst other things) as it did have a warm and sweet caramel/orange scent and an appealing look (stripy like a bumblebee, brown and yellow). It had passed the lush test, that is that I could smell the fragrance above the amazingly strong background smell in the shop (Lush veterans will be able to confirm this). It is one of the larger sized bath bombs that they do and are priced at £2.10 each.

I thought I would throw this in the bath and let it fizz away while I get my stuff together. The smell that visited my nose when I walked back in was very pleasant. It kind of reminded me of old fashioned sweet shops and made me look forward to the bath ahead., it has a strong caramel smell mixed with a subtle orange scent. After peering into the bath I could see the yellow tidemarks being left on the side, I took one look at the Cif power mousse at the side of the bath and gave an acknowledging nod, as I knew that we both would be sharing some quality time together later.

Looked at the bottom of the bath and saw some brown grit-like substance at the bottom. After much furrowing of the brow I looked at the ingredients list and saw Moroccan Rhassoul mud as one of the ingredients. Personally I wouldn’t know what Rhassoul was is it came up behind me and bit me on my (now naked) behind, but I assumed it would be a good thing and would help soften up my skin. My girlfriend also came in and commented that it looked like I had had an attack of the trots while in the bath, but I can assure readers that I didn’t.

After climbing into the bath I immediately noticed the softening effect on my skin and relaxed. This seems to be ultra good for my skin and the softening efect could be felt pretty much straight away. The smell seemed to linger on my skin and clothes for quite a while too, and made me feel as if I had been working in Grannys’ Ye Olde sweet shop.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate (to help make it fizz; also has the side effect of softening the water), Citric acid (works in conjunction with the bicarb, also a preservative), Rhassoul Mud (helps cleanse and detoxify your skin; also gives girlfriends an excuse to say that you have had an accident in the bath), Perfume, honey (Yum!), Aloe Vera Extract (great cleanser and skin softener), Sweet Orange Oil, Bergamot Oil (Makes me want to break out the Earl Grey Tea), Gardenia Extract.

This is one of the better bath ballistics that I have tried. Its’ softening effect is quite noticeable and immediate. It tends to leave an oily residue in the bath which is a little unfortunate, but it is always the case with the oilier bombs and is fixed easily with a five minute soak of cleaner. The scent is very addictive and subtle; I used this with the Angel Delight soap and felt like I ought to be standing on the shelf of my local sweet shop. This is still pricey compared to bogs standard cosmetics, but then again I come out of the bath feeling better than I do using these. A worthy buy.

Lol at it looking like you had the trots! I love this and it smells gorgeous. Love the angel delight soap too but when I use the Honey Bee I use Honey I washed the kids soap as it complements it better ;o)
