Advantages: Smells lovely

Disadvantages: Not as good as the Ma Bar

Do you ever get one of those mornings when you just know it?s going to be a bad day? I was woken up in the middle of the night by strange clanking noises coming from our boiler. By 6am I couldn?t bear to listen to it any more so with a feeling of dread hauled myself out of bed to discover what the problem was. Two hours later after hubby had been in the loft our boiler was purring again sweetly but I had wound myself into a frenzy thinking that we were going to have to pay hundreds of pounds to get it fixed so I felt completely stressed. Deciding that a long soak in the bath was in order, I trundled off to the bathroom to sift through my array of bath goodies. It was then that I remembered that the lovely Kirsty Mack (a newcomer to Dooyo) had sent me a parcel of Lush goodies in the week with their new bath ballistic, the Honey Bee. With the sun streaming through the bathroom window the Honey Bee seemed an ideal choice to share my bath, as its bright yellow colouring persuaded me it was going to leave me feeling sunny and relaxed.

Lush produce a large range of products designed to make bath time an experience never to be forgotten and I?ve long been a huge fan of their bath ballistics. Ballistics are formed from bicarbonate of soda, citric acid, perfumes and essential oils, and are designed to fizz away in the bath whilst releasing their scrummy aromas and skin softening oils to give you skin that Cleopatra would be proud of. The ballistics are mostly large circular fizz balls although some are shaped into novelty designs, and although they won?t fill your bath with bubbles, once you?ve tried them and discovered their wonderful scents, you will be happy to give up the bubbles once in a while to have a ballistic bath sensation. Lush do not test any of their products on animals nor do they use any snazzy preservatives or additives, everything in their range
is natural and whether you want to be invigorated or chilled out, there is something in the range to suit every occasion. The majority of the Lush bath range is either florally or citrus scented, and as the ballistics come in a wide range of colours, they appeal to the eye as well as look darn pretty on the bathroom shelf.

The Honey Bee can be purchased either online or from the Lush stores dotted around the country for the £2.10 and the website informed us Lush devotees that the Honey Bees has the same type of fragrance as the Ma Bar, Honey I washed the kids soap, Soft Coeur massage bar and Brazened Honey Face Mask. The Ma Bar is my favourite bubble bar ever so it was for this reason alone that I was first attracted to the Honey Bee when it made its debut a few weeks ago, although its sunshine yellow colour and the light brown colored swirly bits on its surface gave it the appearance of a cartoon planet in a childrens story book and appealed to my ten year old daughter as well so both Amber and myself were really excited when we discovered that my parcel from Miss Mack featured a Honey Bee expertly packaged in bubble wrap to prevent it from getting broken.

The Honey Bee is a bit bigger than a tennis ball and has a heavenly smell of toffee. I?ve found that anything Lush class as honey scented actually smells more like toffee, and gives off a sweet smell of sugary confectionary and the Honey Bee certainly does nothing to dispel that fact. After running some water in the bath, I plonk the ballistic into the water and it erupts into an agitated fizzing mass. A river of sunny yellow erupts from the ball and spreads throughout the bath water, and the sandy brown pieces mingle with the yellow until the bath water looks as though I?ve poured a jug of orange squash into the bath, either that or
someone has had a wee in it. The colour does seem to increase in intensity as the ballistic dissolves until the water is so bright that you could possibly need sunglasses before you sink your body into the sweet smelling liquid. Small pieces of yellow oil float on the surface of the bath water and as I lower my body into the toffee scented yellowness, the oily bits caress my skin giving it an instantly softened feel. Honey Bee is not as oily as some of the ballistics I?ve tried, nor does it leave a slick or slippery feeling on the base of the bath. My skin doesn?t feel oily despite being caressed with the oily blobs on the surface of the water, it just feels pleasantly soft, as well as smelling sweet and feeling deliciously clean. Honey Bee is not as strong as Ma Bar, the aroma is more subtle but the air is still full of a sweetness similar to toffee apples. I relaxed in my bath for about half an hour with my Honey Bee, by which time the aroma had decreased in intensity although there was still a sweet smell lingering in the air. The Honey Bee contains aloe oil as well as orange and bergamot and has left me feeling completely relaxed and ready to face the rest of the day. I did as Lush advised and used the Honey I washed the kids soap with my ballistic and the combination of the two was wonderful, leaving the bathroom smelling fabulous as well as me! After emptying the bath, there was a yellow ring left on the edge of the tub but it was quickly and easily removed with a bit of Cif and the shower.

After drying I was a little disappointed with the smell as it was quite subtle, and compared to the Ma Bar, my skin doesn?t smell as sweet or sugary, but I didn?t need to moisturize nor did I have that sticky feeling on my skin as if I?d been over oiled either.

Thanks go to Kirsty for giving us our first taste of the Honey &
#66;ee ? without her this review would not have been possible and I would have been wound up for the rest of the day :O)

I got one of these for free when I ordered a gift off their website, but not being a big Lush fan myself, I wrapped it up and put it in with the gift. However, I was VERY tempted to keep it for myself as it smelled delicious!
