Advantages: Smells wonderful, very cheap, relaxing, easy to buy

Disadvantages: None unless you hate Lavender

I made my recent homage to Lush last weekend knowing full well some of the limited edition Christmas gifts would be on sale so that I would be able to stock up on some of my favourite limited edition products, but whilst I was in there I came across a product called 'Ickle Baby Devil' which is a Lush Bath Ballistic and shoved it into my heavily stocked basket.

Why did I buy the 'Ickle Baby Devil' Bath Ballistic? Firstly I am a huge fan of the Lush Bath Ballisitcs with some of my favourite being Sex Bomb, Think Pink and Rainbow Warrior. Why do I love Bath Ballistics? Well, I love to spend an hour or so chest deep in a hot bath with mind-blowing aromas , a good book and hopefully a nice glass of chilled wine, which for me is the perfect way to relax and chill out. A Bath Ballistic is often a tennis ball shaped bath bombs which will be made up of bicarbonate of Soda and packed full of essential oils, which give off wonderful aromas, but more recently Lush have used their imagination to come up with some rather funky shaped Bath Ballistics like 'Ickle Baby Devil'.

The reason that I bought this particular Bath Ballistic although ti is essentially designed for kids is because it states "The Ickle Baby Devil Bath is pink; it's for kinds who are devilishly difficult to get to sleep. Sooth their tantrums with a fizzy, mood calming Bath Ballistic. Making sure they stay calm all the way to bed with a fizzing, soothing sleepy-time bath". Which currently is absolutely perfect for me because I am suffering from insomnia and I need something to help me drift off into a calm and relaxing sleep because everything else I have tried and tested just is not working. Oh and did I mention that it was pink? If I didn't it is!

Ickle Baby Devil is a cute but ugly looking Ballistic which has been designed to resemble the devil I.e. it has horn shapes sticking out of what is meant to be a head and carved into the ballistic is a face, similar to its sister product Ickle Baby Angel, it is ugly but cute. This ballistic is one of the smallest Lush sell and it weighs in at 30g and is similar in size to an Oero cookie although a bit fatter. On the upseide the smallness is reflected in the price and this Ballistic will only cost you £1.35 which is roughly half the cost of the other ballistics Lush stock.

It is suggested that you place your Ballistic into a bath a of running water, so like an excited child I got my Ballistic and did just as I was told to do. Once the tap is running at a nice warm temperature, or in my case very warm because I like hot steamy baths, you simply watch it fizz away on its own, spinning round in the water fizzing away to itself slowly turning your water into a pastel pink colour. The fizzing is due to the fact the main ingredient in all Bath Ballistics is Sodium Bicarbonate.

Once the Ballistic has fizzed away into the water I was ready to get into my pastel pink coloured bubble filled bath to relax. The aroma given off by this product is almost instant as it begins to fizz away in the water, the smells of Lavender and Chamomile filled the bathroom with the wonderful aroma and like with most products, I always smell it before I buy it or use it just to ensure that I will actually like it and as this smelt so heavenly, I couldn't wait to get into my bath. One other thing I also noticed was that the smell lingered for a good few hours after my bath, and the wonderful aroma filled the house beautifully. The smell coming from the three main ingredients - firstly there is Chamomile Oil which used on in products such as this Bath Ballistic especially for children it is both calming and soothing on the skin and on the mind, for women it is great at relieving PMT. The second ingredients is Lavender Oil which I have now come round to liking as an aroma and Lavender is marketed for its ability to sooth and calm the nerves as well as relieving tension, stress, hysteria and nervous exhaustion. Finally we have Sandalwood Oil which is one of the most expensive oil used by Lush, is often used for meditation as it promotes calmness and reducing tension and confusion and is ideal for use for those people, like me who often have hectic daily lifestyles and those who suffer from stress, nervous exhaustion and anxiety.

So as soon as my bath was running, I simply chucked this Bath Ballistic into the water whole, if a Ballistic is a lot larger than this one, I have often cut them in half to get value for money, but because this one is so small I just chucked the whole lot in and as with all Bath Ballistics, the second it comes into contact with running water it begins to fizz and rushes round the bath like Usain Bolt in the 100 meters, the only difference being this Ballistic dissolves within a matter of seconds into nothingness leaving behind the soft aromas of Lavender and Chamomile. Once in the water the aroma is a lot stronger as it swirls around the room within the steam rising from the bath and almost immediately I began to relax and unwind taking in the smells and allowing myself to forget the awful week I had just had at work and instead look forward to a relaxing weekend of sleeping and doing nothing in general. With products like this Ballistic you can often notice a slight oiliness on the top of the water, which is the essential oils working their magic helping you to relax and most essential oils are kind to the skin, the ones included within this Ballistic are no different.

After drying my skin it felt soft and moisturised with a lovely clean smell, it was a lot softer than it would have been after using my usual Radox or Imperial Leather bath creams. I also have extremely sensitive skin and often find that I am limited in which products I can use, for example I am allergic to The Body Shop shower creams and gels, but with Lush I haven't had any problems whatsoever, so that means I can now become a Lush addict and try everything.

The claims about helping to get a good nights sleep, well I have to admit that I had no problems sleeping the night I used this Bath Ballistic, in fact as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out for the count and I slept for ten hours straight, whether it was because I was so exhausted or whether it was down to this Ballistic I couldn't tell you either way, but it left my skin soft and smooth and I did fall asleep, so I am happy enough.

So would I recommend this product? I absolutely would without a shadow of a doubt. Also after empyting out the bath water there was nothing left behind clinging to the bottom or the sides of the bath.

I admit I am quite bias when it comes to Lush and I love more products than loathe but also as someone with super sensitive skin I would also suggest their products, but I would advise you to go onto their website and check the ingredients used, they are listed under each product so it is easy to find out.

Summary: A soothing, calming bath ballistic

Have you seen the tin of little bath bombs? If that's not under my Christmas tree this year there will be some epic sulking on Christmas day!
