Advantages: glitter,glitter,glitter,g litter,glitter,glitter

Disadvantages: glitter, glitter, glitter,g litter, gold and silver not available throughout the year

There are actually three massage bars in Lush?s Glitterbug range, but they only see fit to offer the Iridescent Glitterbug all year around. There is silver and a gold one as well, which you can only purchase at Christmas and the silver one as part of a gift set (Spellbound).

Appearance

The massage bars are bug-shaped, or in other words, half an egg shape. They are made of cocoa butter and contain a hint of sparkle and I do mean a HINT of sparkle. The Iridescent Glitterbug uses blue, iridescent sparkle, and the others have silver and gold sparkle. The Iridescent sparkle is the more subtle of the too, giving the skin a nice sheen. The others are a bit more obvious, but then that?s probably why they are sold in the party season.

Cost

£2.75 for a 30g massage bar.

Smell

The Iridescent Glitterbug smells of Clary Sage, not particularly strongly. I actually preferred the smell of the gold one, which is Neroli, but these bars are primarily used for effect rather than the smell.

Ingredients for the Iridescent (same for the others, but different coloured sparkles and perfumed oils)

Cocoa Butter, Iridescent Sparkles, shea butter, Clary Sage oil and perfume

Clary Sage is said to help you relax and enhance your inner perception, apparently.

Not tested on animals and vegetarian. Well not tested deliberately on animals as my cat Blue can testify.

Packaging

Comes in a clear plastic bag. Looks smaller than it does when you purchase online, but a little goes a long way.

My verdict

Great if you love glitter. Not great if you don?t love glitter. It rubs off on everything, easy removed, but then again it?s only supposed to get on your skin, but erm that?s just a tad impossible to achieve. I have had it on the cat Blue. Grey cats do look good with a temporary shimmer. I think she disagrees, but then it?s her fault is she wants to rub up against every bit of m
e while watching Teletext. Also great if you can get someone to rub it on you and don?t mind it on them in the process. If they don?t like glitter, dump them. Great if you don?t mind glitter in the cat?s furry bits or your furry bits for that matter.

I?ve given this product 4 out of 5 stars, as they don?t do the full range all the year round and the smells of the bar could be stronger, better and patchouli, but that?s just a personal preference. This is my favourite of this range, even compared to the chocolate ones because I always want to eat those, erm yes I have tried and the chocolate bit is hard to rub in. This product will be 5 stars if you love glitter, but 1 star if you don?t.
nb~ clary sage is not suitable for pregnant women

Like karenuk, although I do enjoy a bit of glitter, the scent does put me off a bit. Have you tried the gorgeous Fairy Jasmine bath ballistics - incredibly wonderful smell and tons of sparkles.

It's great to go glittery for Xmas or parties, and I'd rather be covered in glitter than chocolatey muck (I've tried the Lush chocolate massage bar too! - smelt great though)

Probably worth pointing out here that Clary Sage essential oil should not be used by pregnant women, I'm not sure why but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I've got one of these too, I love the glitter but I'm not keen on the smell.
