Please note that this opinion is for the Lush Shimmy Shimmy Massage Bar and not the Glitterbug - the two products are very similar and as there is no way to get a new product added at the moment I have submitted it here.

With the festive season rapidly approaching I have been testing out some of the glittery products available from Lush - most of their glittery products are Bath Ballistics, (bath bombs), but for Christmas they have brought out two limited edition glittery massage bars, namely, the glitterbug and Shimmy Shimmy.

Being 34, and not quite the spring chicken I once was, I decided that the Glitter Bug was a bit too young for me as it is full of lots of beautiful iridescent pieces of glitter and is quite intense so I decided to opt for the Shimmy Shimmy which contains gold glitter and is a lot more subtle.

Whilst the Shimmy Shimmy is described as being a massage bar, it is not really what I would describe as a massage bar, in the sense that you are highly unlikely to use it for an intimate massage session and likewise it is unlikely to help soothe your aching joints, however the Shimmy Shimmy bar is described as a massage bar and as such it is displayed amongst the other massage bars in the Lush shops. It is easy to identify because of its' distinctive lop sided heart shape.

The Shimmy Shimmy bar is predominantly a creamy white colour, however upon closer inspection you will note that it contains lots of tiny bits of gold glitter.

To use the Shimmy Shimmy bar you simply apply it to which ever areas upon your anatomy that you wish to show off - it may be that you want to just subtly draw attention to your fabulous cleavage or you may wish to literally sparkle from head to toe and apply it all over, the choice is yours. The bar easily glides across the skin and almost feels as though it is melting into the skin whilst you are applying it.

What I particularly like about this product is the fact that y
ou decide where you want to sparkle - the bath ballistics are great but there is no control whatsoever over where the glitter sticks - and once it has adhered itself to your body it rather stubbornly stays there - except to drop off periodically and decorate the carpet in every room that you visit. Another reason that I like this product so much is because it allows you to create the correct amount of sparkle that you want and if you initially go a bit mad it is easy to remove.

As with many Lush products this product serves more than one purpose - you may well be buying it in order to shimmy sexily throughout the festive season, but because it contains shea butter and cocoa butter it not only makes you sparkle it also moisturises your skin at the same time.

As with all Lush products the Shimmy Shimmy bar has been created using only natural ingredients which have not been tested on animals. As well as containing shea butter and cocoa butter for moisturising it also contains vanilla absolute, clary sage oil, lavender oil and benzoin reinoid which all help to give it a beautiful sweet aroma which lasts for ages. The scent is predominantly a vanilla scent, it is not overpowering and in my mind is even more of a plus reason for purchasing this product as it now serves three purposes, ie, it fragrances, moisturises and sparkles.
The Shimmy Shimmy bar is sold as a 30g heart shaped bar which retails for £2.75, which I believe to be fantastic value for a 3 in 1 product.

Highly recommended if you wish to sparkle at the office party or school disco or even if you just fancy drawing attention to your assets. The only disadvantage I can find with this product is that it is a limited edition and therefore won't be around for long.
