Advantages: Incredibly refreshing

Disadvantages: Is on the expensive side

Most of you already know that I'm a Lush junkie. I discovered Lush and their fresh, natural products many years ago in London and fell in love with many of their products. The bad thing is Lush has this annoying habit of discontinuing really great products to make room for new ones. Fortunately Lush remakes some of the discontinued items a retro product and brings it back to the shelves! Fortunately for me Lush Lime as one of them!

Lush Lime falls into a category of cleansing products called smoothies. The consistency of Lush Lime and smoothies in general is like yogurt. If I held the container upside down it would gloop out; slowly. Lush Lime looks like yogurt as well as it is off white in color and very creamy in appearance. It comes in a white (used to be black before it went retro) container with a screw on lid. The container resembles a yogurt container so the top is wide open which makes it easy to reach right in and grab a scoop. Smoothies are supposed to be "skin conditioning shower soaps" (to the point of spending years listed under the category of "skin conditioners" rather than with Lush's other shower products).

I remember the first time I used Lush Lime Smoothie, it was about two years ago during a very rubbish August where the weather wasn't particularly great at all! I was so excited, my mood in desperate need of a citrus blast of warm sunshine.

I grabbed my pot of Lush Lime, ran to the shower, cracked it open to reveal its white whipped creamy goodness, started showering, and then...pause. In addition to a fresh breeze of lime, I could swear I smelled vegetables! I later took a look at the lid's list of ingredients: while Lush Lime certainly contains quite a bit of lime juice (and a dash of grapefruit oil and strawberry juice), it's made with a base of butternut squash, well who would of thought it?! Butternut squash is apparently well-known for being quite gentle on the skin, but in a lime smoothie, it can strike you as seeming a bit out of place if/when detected in the shower, it's the sort of scent that you can't quite describe. The scent how is quite tangy and fresh and oddly quite comforting! Once you're dried off, however, the straight scent of lime resurfaces on your skin--not too overpowering, not too subtle.

There were no instructions for use on my container of Lush Lime so I had no clue how to use it. Do I rub it all over myself like lotion, use it on a washcloth? I had no idea so I went with what I know and used my shower pouf. After removing the lid from the container I reached in to scoop out a small amount of smoothie. Again, I had no idea how much to use so I used the smallest amount I thought would work which turned out to be about a teaspoon! Fortunately that amount worked out really well. I first got my shower pouf wet and then plopped that little blob of smoothie onto it and rubbed it in. To my absolute delight I was rewarded with a mass of creamy white foam that I proceeded to wash myself with. I could not believe that such a small amount was needed to produce that much lather.

Lime is beyond one of the milkiest, silkiest lathers going (making this a fantastic shaving cream, rivaled by none), once rinsed away, I've honestly never found Lush Lime to be any more or less conditioning than the majority of Lush's shower products which do generally cost less but then shower gel just isn't as much fun as a shower smoothie now is it?

As much as I love Lush products whose scent just screams Lush, I am sometimes disappointed in the performance of those products (and I've certainly tried a few to comment!). Not so with Lush Lime though. It is very creamy whether used in my shower pouf or just straight out of the container and onto my skin. It feels so good on my skin and leaves it feeling cleansed but not stripped. People with sensitive skin won't have a problem I'm sure. It rinses away easily as well. I do not feel like its sucked all the moisture out of my skin when I've used it and don't feel the need to immediately moisturise after use either.

What Lush say:-

Refreshing lime and grapefruit ease problem skin
Made with a base of butternut squash, this shower smoothie gets your body squeaky clean but in the gentlest way possible. Fresh juices and sea salt decongest and detoxify skin while olive and almond oils leave it buttery soft. Lime plus liberal dashes of strawberry, grapefruit and floral karo karounde create a citrusy scent that's not too overpowering or too subtle. A joy to use with the creamiest lather, LUSH Lime refreshes you and your entire bathroom.

A tub of Lush Lime will set you back £7.59 which is expensive for something which does effectively the same as a shower gel it just has a higher price tag. I'm in the thinking that this product is great and I'm already onto my 4th tub as I just can't get enough of the stuff!

Summary: A great product to have a great shower!

I'm not really a fan of lime so I don't think that this is for me. Great review though.
