The Lustre Body Powder is a relatively new product from Lush. It wasn't on my immediate list of things to try, but I managed to pick some up in the Boxing Day sale when all the dusting powders were half price.

The product comes in the same bottle as the 100g shower gels. It is see-through so you can see the product inside and how much you have left. You get 40g of product in here - it is very light and doesn't weigh much. The body powders used to come in more traditional talc containers with holes in the top, but Lush have now changed this and they come in these smaller bottles - presumably because they are easier to recycle.

The name of the powder is quite clever. It works on two levels: it adds a golden lustre to the skin, and it contains the same unapologetic jasmine fragrance of the Lust soap and perfume. Don't even think about purchasing this if you don't like jasmine. I do though so that wasn't a problem. Jasmine is meant to be an aphrodisiac and it also helps improve moods - ideal for use at 'that time of the month'!

The body powder contains gold lustre which adds a golden shimmering glow to the skin. It also contains cornflour, magnesium carbonate and talc which act like other body powders to absorb excess oils and moisture. The scent is made up of jasmine, ylang ylang, rose and vanilla absolutes, but really all I can smell is the jasmine!

The product is easy to use - just lightly dust some onto the skin. Luckily, the opening of the lid is small so you don't accidentally pour too much out. I really like the way the powder looks on my skin. I was worried its yellow tones wouldn't look right on my very pale skin, and I certainly think it would look best on tanned or darker/Asian skin tones. However it did look nice on my skin, giving it a golden shimmer. It wasn't a sparkling effect - the particles are too small for that - but a subtle glow.

I found that the product lasted on my skin all day and I was pleased to see that it didn't transfer to other clothes. The jasmine scent lasted a while too. I'd be worried that it would clash with a perfume, though the scent is more subtle than the fragrance itself.

I've read that this product can be used in other ways as well - as an eyeshadow or a highlighter for the face, so it's very versatile. I haven't tried it this way though, as I prefer pink or silvery tones for my face as my skin is so pale.

The product costs a whopping £10 which would put me off to be honest - I certainly wouldn't have bought it at full price and even at half price in the Boxing Day sale I thought it was a bit expensive. On the other hand, Lush do use real jasmine absolute which is known to be very expensive. Also, the product does last ages - only a small amount of powder is needed at any one time, and the use-by date on my bottle isn't until the end of 2014.

Overall, I recommend this as a good product but I think the majority of people would understandably be put off by the price!
