Advantages: Very luxurious, melts completely away
Disadvantages: Is very girly and sweet, takes a while to melt
Lush ‘Melting Marshmallow Moment Luxury Bath Melt’ is a solid foam bath that almost acts like a bath ballistic/bomb but without as much fizz. It is very simple to use by just sticking it under running water while running the bath and it gradually disintegrates – holding it in my hand I could feel it fizzing. It is quite hard to break by hand so I used a knife to get a couple of uses out of the one block.
The shape doesn’t really matter too much although as it seems to have been moulded in a small tub it does make it quite thick and solid when dry so is slow to melt away. When it gets smaller it does crumble more easily to help it break down quicker until there isn’t anything left. The colour of it is bright pink which made me think of candyfloss but even that as well as marshmallows didn’t really describe the smell that well. To me it is quite unnaturally fruity – strawberries and raspberries but is very sickly as though filled with sugar… more something you’d eat than bathe in. The pink of the melt did colour the water in the bath but did not stain anything after use.
As a foam bath it is good as even from using a little there was a bit of foam (softly foaming as they described) but unfortunately did disappear quite quickly once in the bath and splashing around. There were no gritty pieces left lying at the bottom of the bath or anything floating on top as the whole of it had melted. When getting into the bath the water wasn’t very clear but almost like a rose quartz pink and after the foam disappeared left a layer of white. I didn’t feel it was oily as I’ve experienced with similar products but it did make my skin feel moisturised. This does make the bath a little slippery so can be something to watch out for.
The scent is quite strong and very girly which does linger after getting out the bath on both my skin and the air. It wasn’t irritating on my skin after I’d shaved though and although there wasn’t anything to feel on my skin after drying it didn’t dry it out since it does contain cocoa butter which is good for moisturising. The scent on my skin wasn’t over powering though so was very possible to use perfume without the scents mixing badly.
I received my bath melt in the Super Deluxe box along with 9 other items and it came in a little clear bag with instructions and its name although no ingredients as these were mentioned on a page in the box. They can be bought separately in the shops and online for £2.60 per 100g but my one looks like the picture above rather than the cupcake looking one online.
Even after washing my hair I didn’t notice it becoming increasingly greasy or oily from the bath melt which although is probably better just being used when you fancy a relaxing moment in the bath, is still a plus if washing your hair at the same time although I made sure to rinse thoroughly with clean water.
If you are a girly girl then I really do recommend it as this bath melt is nice and sweet while luxurious to use and can be broken up if you don’t fancy using all at once getting more for your money. And there are no gritty pieces that make relaxing difficult as it does completely disappear. As it is a Lush product, it hasn’t been tested on animals. More details can be found on www.lush.co.uk including ingredients.
Summary: Livens up bath times in a way very few products do.

- 15/01/07 This one isn't a bath bomb - I find they are easy to half as they are usually two halfs of a ball stuck together... as mentioned in the review use a knife. D :) |

- 15/01/07 How do break this? With a hammer and a chisel? I tried to divide a bath bomb into two halves but couldn't. |

- 15/01/07 I was given my first Lush products this Christmas, still to try them out. Hope they are too sickly sweet! Jo x |
