Advantages: Really REALLY works!
Disadvantages: Not for the thin-skinned
Description: This is a wonderfully citrusy, fruity salt scrub; with grapefruit, lime avocado, coconut, seasweed, vodka, and violets all making an appearance in the ingredients list, this scrub reads more like a tropical cocktail than a clenser. The vital ingredient, here, however, is of course the sea salt - along with the seaweed this serves to re-mineralise skin. LUSH recommends this for both oily and dry skin. It comes in 120g or 250g pots, selling at £5.96 and £10.96 respectively on the website.
Opinion: I am very very impressed with this scrub - it not only smells lovely, but it does exactly what it says in the product description. Ultimately, the salt and seaweed mean that it smells very strongly of a trip to the sea-side; the citrus and coconut balance this out just enough, however, adding a softer and more feminine tone. The key word with this one is REFRESHING. I have Asian skin, which is an annoying combination of oily and dry at the same time; I have been using Ocean Salt every night before going to bed for about a week now, and it is working wonders already. When you first open the pot, the huge grains of salt resting on top are slightly scary - i mixed these in before first using it, however, and found that the majority of the pot contained much smaller, less harsh granules. The salt feels very abrasive against your skin, so don't use it if you have very sensitive skin - what made a healthy glow on my skin might make another turn bright red. Also, obviously, not good if you have cuts or sores, etc. - I had chapped lips the first time i used it, and they stung like a day on the beach! The flip side ofall of this, however, is that it really does slough away all that dead dry skin / make-up / dirt and all the other things that conspire to make your skin feel icky. Something in there - I suspect it is the coconut oil - is also incredibly soothing, combating the harshness of the salt. Results so far? My drink-and-cake-induced bout of acne is rapidly clearing, and I go to sleep dreaming of sea-side resorts. Not bad!
Summary: I love it!
