Advantages: Smells lovely, it works, soft skin through
Disadvantages: Some might not like the spicy smell
I cannot believe just how cold it is right now, first we have no summer time and now winter has come early so it means everyone is wrapping up warm to avoid catching all kinds of bugs and diseases from one another and to keep the cold out. The one thing I cant stand about the cold weather however is having cold feet or having someone putting their cold feet onto me to steal my warmth. I’m kind of lucky because I always have warm hands and feet (and you know what they say warm feet warm heart or is it cold heart lol) but I’m not happy to share it, not even with Steve. So I needed a solution and off I went to Lush after reading some reviews about Pied De Pepper.
Pied De Pepper is a foot cream made by Lush and it is sold in one of those black 100g tubs that Lush sell the majority of their creams in, on the front of the tub is the Lush logo with the white writing are the words ‘Pied De Pepper’. You will also find the usual sticker indicating who made the product and how long the shelf life is, because Lush products are made with natural ingredients they don’t last forever. This foot cream had me sold within minutes because to quote Lush “It’s also excellent in cold weather for people who have cold extremities and like to warm their feet up on yours.” And as I have already mentioned someone doing that to me with their cold feet, I thought this would be the perfect gift, assuming it did as it said it would.
As with all foot creams there is no magic solution to using it, you simply massage it into your feet daily or as and when you feel like it and I was told that the ingredients within the cream will not only leave feet smelling wonderful but it will also help to soothe the aches, deodorise and moisturise them. Now this cream is actually quite smelly, in a nice way but as soon as you remove the lid the smells do hit you instantly and if you are not a fan of spicy smelling products (like Ginger) then I am not sure you would be a fan of this cream. The cream itself is an odd pinky colour & quite thick in consistency and its texture is similar to Dream Cream.
So what makes it so spicy? Well as always there is a huge variety of ingredients within this product and the first one is Vanilla Pod Decoction which has a very sweet aroma and it brings about the feeling of relaxation and is used in a lot of beauty products. Olive Oil is also an ingredient which is used in a lot more products these days and it is used for its ability to moisturise the skin along with the Cocoa Butter. Finally we have three main oils, firstly Cinnamon Leaf Oil when used in a cream helps to soothe aches and pains, next we have Ginger Oil which has a whole host of uses from stimulating poor circulating to starving off the feeling of sickness however in this instant being used with this foot cream it is used for its stimulation of the poor blood circulation, easing aches and pains and for its warming qualities and finally we have Lemon Oil which has a very uplifting aroma and again is used in a lot of beauty products for its ability to moisturise the skin (it is also good for getting rid of cellulite). As always with Lush products you can find a whole host of ingredients at their website.
As I have said before there is no magic way to apply this cream to your feet but you definitely do not need to use a lot at anyone time because of its thickness this cream does spread quite easily and covers a fair distance, I have found using a walnut sized blob is plenty per foot and you just simply massage the cream into your feet as you would any other foot creams. You should find that your feet do actually have a warm sensation brought about them by this cream as you begin to massage it in and the warm sensation lingers for a good hour making your feet feel toasty warm. Having used this cream for about 6 weeks the skin is much softer on my feet and although I have never had a problem with smelly feet, the smells from the Pied De Pepper do linger because I use it on a daily basis.
Pied de Pepper is widely available at any Lush store or you can buy it online and it is currently priced at £5.50 per 100g pot and each pot should last you, depending on usage 3 to 4 months, so it really is good value for money and it does exactly what it says it will do. So this cream I do recommend.
