Advantages: Moisturises

Disadvantages: Stains fabric

After my disappointing experience with Fair Trade I was still in search of a great foot lotion (despite taking Vitamin E capsules two heads are better than one so they say!) I went into Lush in search of something that could soften my skin. I was not in the mood however to have a sales assistant come over to me! Of course she was bouncing off the walls with cheeryness and after asking me what I was after I told her that I needed a foot lotion which would soft etc. She tried to palm Fair Trade off on me and I promptly told her that I'd already had a pot and I wasn't that impressed (thinking back I probably knocked that cheeryness right out of her!) She chose Volcano Foot Mask and also as a Lush favour gave me a sample of Pied de Pepper.

Now Pied de Pepper a thin but potent reddish-tan lotion of a yoghurt type consistency. However I was still not impressed by having yet another deep coloured foot lotion! However it was free so I can't really complain that much or can I?!

Pied de Pepper is however a refreshing change from the usual minty foot lotions on the market; you get a cool, tingling feeling but this time from spices instead of herbs. This foot lotion has a lovely but potent vanilla, clove, cinnamon, and ginger scent--one that lingers with excruciating intensity, actively interfering with any other scent you might be wearing. So before use, you really should be prepared to commit to Pied de Pepper's sweet fragrance. The oils used in Pied de Pepper have antiseptic and warming properties which really do sooth the feet especially if you've been on them all day.

As for the effects Pied de Pepper has on the skin, for normal to dry feet that don't altogether seem like a lost cause (or soft feet that require a little maintenance), Pied de Pepper will work wonders, leaving your feet silky smooth and ageless. The cream is almost instantly absorbed, without leaving that stickiness you can sometimes get! For those who enjoy slathering their feet with a thick layer of lotion each night as an intensive foot treatment with moisture booties, Pied de Pepper would be ideal (how the colouring just like Fair Trade will stain those lovely little booties!). Pied de Pepper has the same problem as Fair Trade about staining fabric, just ensure that you really rub this cream in to prevent any pink staining!

Now my feet aren't that badly damaged compared to some but if you do have badly calloused soiles Pied de Pepper really won't help as it's only a mid-strength lotion and anyone in desperate need of a major feet overhaul would probably be better off buffing their feet with good old Buffy and again using the basic Vitamin E capsule as a nightly regime.

Lush does product stronger foot creams so opting for one of these maybe the best way to go. Overall I did quite like Pied de Pepper as it certainly differs from the usually minty fragrance you get with most creams. The herbal fragrance is certainly quite refreshing and my feet felt soothed and softened. My feet were left soft and moisturised for pretty much most of the day. What a shame I only had a sample pot!

What Lush say:-

Soothing, spicy foot cream.
Pied de Pepper smells like a spicy sauce for a hot dessert, but it's a spicy cream for your feet and it would definitely come in handy after a long walk in a hot desert. Clove bud, cinnamon leaf and ginger essential oils soothe your muscles, stimulate your circulation and ease aches all at the same time. It's also excellent in cold weather for people who have cold extremities and like to warm their feet up on yours.

Pied de Pepper will cost £6.12 for 100g

Summary: One definatly worth a miss!
