Advantages: Not greasy
Disadvantages: Smells weird?
As part of Lush's 10 for £10 deal, you get a trial size version of Pied De Pepper Foot Lotion to go alongside the Fair Trade Foot Lotion (which I have already reviewed).
The trial size is 5g, and comes in a little plastic pot with a screw top lid. Upon opening the jar, I was greeted with a beige coloured cream, not unlike a liquid foundation. The scent is very strong and you notice it without even trying to smell it, if that makes sense. On first whiff I wasn't too sure what to make of it. It's definitely so strong that if you don't like it, I doubt you'll even try the lotion. It smells very strongly of pepper, combined with plain soap and possibly even a bit coffee/cocoa-y smelling (?!) I know that sounds strange, it's just very difficult to describe! It's a sharp smell anyway, and personally I prefer the smell of the Fair Trade Foot Lotion (though there's not that much in it).
Lotion wise, it's a good thickness and texture. Very smooth, light, but not too runny. Lush has got this spot on.
I rubbed it into my poor aching feet, and whilst this doesn't produce an instant cool feeling like other foot care products by Lush, it does soothe and ease pain away almost instantly. If you have an honest foot condition rather than tired feet then I don't know how effective this would be for you, but my feet definitely enjoyed it.
It does smell slightly different when rubbed in as the 'natural' soap scent seems to come out more and dull the vaguely peppery scent.
Like lots of Lush products, this did make my skin feel silky soft. And better than Fair Trade Foot Lotion, there was no greasy feeling after and it rubbed into my fingers a lot faster and more easily so I could get the screw top lid back on with no fuss.
Lose one star for smell though, because I'm undecided and I think I'm leaning slightly more towards not liking it. Otherwise, this is a great Lush product.
Summary: Pretty good
