Advantages: Great selection of gifts

Disadvantages: Not available in the UK

Another gift that I brought back with me is Purple Haze; this however had to travel with Mr Sweetpea as I seemed to have used all the space up in my suitcase with other wonderful presents! I always feel more excited about buying Lush in another country as you never know what other items they have. Purple Haze is one of them. It is sadly unavailable in the UK and if anyone knows otherwise please let me know immediately!!

Admittedly Purple Haze was not a gift for myself but actually for Mr Sweetpea's sister who lives in Germany and finds it hard to get Lush. As it was her birthday is was a perfect excuse to find a lovely gift and as she is not one for all things pink I thought purple would make a great range and as I have used all the items contained I knew she would adore it!

Purple Haze is filled of various purple products. Of all shades and sizes which all seem to compliment each other. As always Lush do a fine and dandy job with the gift wrapping the beautiful purple patterned gift wrap is prefect, no creases no sagginess in the paper! I would love to know who designs the wrapping paper and if it is available on the open market as it almost seems a shame to tear it or even waste it!

Purple Haze contains: - Gratuitous Violets Soap, Oh La La Soap, Something Wicked This Way Comes Bath Melt, Bathos Bubble Bar and French Kiss Bubble Bar

Gratuitous Violets:-

If you like Bathos Bubble Bar, you'll love this even more intense concoction of Napoleon's (and Lush founder Mark Constantine's) favourite floral fragrance. Gratuitous Violets is indeed gratuitously packed with violets: in addition to Bathos' usual violet leaf absolute, Gratuitous Violets raises the bar by doubling the usual dosage with a sweet violet leaf infusion. Calling forth violet's sweeter character, ylang ylang offers a fresh floral backnote to both products (though it's simply listed as "cananga oil" in this soap's list of ingredients).

Certain to perfume your skin with its intoxicating forest fairy in the flowers fragrance for the remainder of the day, Gratuitous Violets safely houses you in gloriously calming surroundings for hours on end, leaving you wishing you could remain there for a lifetime.

Oh la la:-

A stimulating cleanser for both body and mind, Ooh La La doesn't quite smell as it appears: it's purple on the outside, but actually quite green at heart. When dry, restorative lavender oil is the most prominent note, with detoxifying grape juice giving it a sweetened lift, not to mention the bulk of this soap's bright colouring. However, once you wet Ooh La La, earthier shades of blemish-clearing rosemary and tonic thyme altogether upstage lavender, thereby turning Lush's so-called "lavender soap" into a provincial picnic basket

Thyme gradually begins to dominate not only the clarity of lavender and grape, but also the spryness of rosemary, resulting not only in a foody, spicy herbal fragrance, but also a denser, smokier one that eventually leaves little room for you to enjoy this soap's deliciously layered provençal complexity. Grape juice remains bold in other ways, though: what becomes a soft pink lather on your sponge starts out as puddles of vin rouge on every thing your slice of Ooh La La

happens to directly (or indirectly) touch, making it more than a tad messy.

Something Wicked This Way Comes:-

With a soothing, confidence rousing spiced floral combination of ginger and jasmine with a whispered topnote of green oakmoss, Something Wicked This Way Comes is blessed with exotically rich, expensive aphrodisiac oils that gently perfume every inch of your body, the perfect start to any "wicked" evening.

As this Bath Melt dissolves, though its pink colouring fails to tint the water while leaving it looking rather bland, it does release a dainty pink, iridescent and golden shimmer, the majority of which generally does not stick to the skin. In fact, I'm not exactly 100% pro-glitter myself, and yet more often than not, even I have found myself consistently disappointed with the lack of shimmer on my skin after a Something Wicked bath! But alas, all you get with Something Wicked This Way Comes is a seductive fragrance, dull water, a glittery tub, and mediocre moisturisation for the skin, especially in comparison to Lush's other cocoa butter and almond oil Bath Melts.

Bathos:-

Violets were Napoleon's favourite flower. After his defeat at Waterloo, he visited his beloved Josephine's grave, where he picked violets which he kept in a locket around his neck until his death. So when he was exiled from France, his followers were told that he would return with the violets in spring. Now, thanks to Lush, anytime you feel erased, excluded or expelled, you can make your empirical return with the violets of Bathos.

Bathos' perfection penetrates your aura with soft, royal colour (violet, if you couldn't have guessed), embraces your conquered spirit with warm, cozy bubbles, and kisses you with the sweet scents of violet, rose and ylang ylang.

French Kiss:-

In the event that your only French Kiss experience has been with those sad, fuchsia & white blobs of mush in the UK shops, I'm here to tell you that the French Kiss bubble bar is supposed to be purple & white, shaped like a tall, twisting Hershey's Kiss, with an elegant sprig of lavender serving as it's little tag. Based on Lush's descriptions, you might expect this Bubble Bar to smell of lavender, but in reality, lavender's voice gets drowned to a whisper. This bath primarily owes its fragrance to the potency of fresh rosemary and thyme, both providing a crisp green salad herb aroma.

Personally, I like this unique twist on the typical lavender bath, especially as these herbs work the same way in the bath as they do in food; warming in winter, refreshing in summer. Yet while the scent is intriguing, by the time your body settles into the water, you'll often find French Kiss's bubbles are fading fast; even "churning" new bubbles using your shower nozzle can fail to produce a compensatory froth.

Purple Haze costs around Euro36.90 in EU countries and is unfortunately not available in the UK which is a real shame. Purple Haze is a real crowd pleaser over the pond and I can see why! Lush have been quite generous in their items for this gift and despite a few flaws you can over come this easily! Full of passion-inducing products to wash, melt, and bathe with in all shades of mauve, amethyst, lilac and indigo. Scented with jasmine, ginger, violet and lavender.

Summary: A lovely purple gift!

I wonder if this one will be available next time I'm visiting Canada. Odd about things not being available everywhere across the board.
