Advantages: Sharp cinnamon twist to wake you up on chilly spring mornings ...

Disadvantages: Overpowering smell when hungover (as if!)

Red Rooster soap has one of those distinctive smells which you can't quite put your finger on ... until you remember the cough candy sweeties that we used to buy in quarters from the old sweetshop. Red Rooster smells (to me) exactly as the cough candy twists used to taste *he he*

My beloved knows I am addicted to Lush products and bought this for me when I was feeling very poorly; after reading the bumpf about the properties of the soap he decided that was the one for me.

Key smells:
Orange juice, orange essential oils, cinnamon, cloves.

Prices:
A 100g pre-packaged slab of this delicious vibrant orange soap costs £1.90; for a 250g pre-packaged slab it's £3.80. If you go to the Lush shops you can get pieces cut to your preferred size, priced accordingly.

Lush's write-up says that it is very refreshing and gives a warming effect on the body. It certainly does, thanks to the cloves!

In use, I found this a little too harsh on my skin and also on my nose ... especially when marginally hungover from too much fine wine the evening before! Bits of cinnamon sticks contained within the Red Rooster soap work as a fabulous exfoliator if you use the soap directly on your body - great for those areas which need regular exfoliation but not so great when they scratch the more sensitive areas (enough said, methinks).

I also found that the soap (in common with most Lush soaps) left my skin feeling taught, even while still in the shower. However, I found this was easily remedied by slathering on "A ring of roses" heavenly butter cream (of course it's from Lush! Where else with a name like that?!).

Unfortunately, I personally found the cloves a little too strong and feel that this soap is more masculine than feminine for my tastes. If it had a touch more orange essential oil it would have altered the smell radically and made it far more friendly to the more sensitive-nosed female fraternity.

And so back it goes to my beloved, to be put to good use.

It's the thought that counts!!!
