Advantages: The smell is to die for, makes your skin soft
Disadvantages: No stars & it's gone all too quickly.
I had heard nothing but good reports about Lush products but as we don't have a Lush store anywhere near us the opportunity to buy had passed me by, or so I thought, until I discovered lush.com!!
So I ordered, amongst other items, a 100g bar of Rock Star soap. It arrived in a box that was plastered in Lush named tape, so no doubting what was in there. I was rather disappointed as I ripped open the box to what seemed to be a box of shredded paper! Luckily hidden at the bottom amongst all the paper were my 2 bars of soap. Also in the box was a copy of Lush times which contains details of all available Lush products.
***DESCRIPTION***
Where's my little white star was my 1st question!! On the website the picture of my Rock Star soap showed a pretty white star in the corner of the soap. On the packaging it says that as you wash with this soap little stars will appear. Ooh how exciting, now I can't wait to find my 1st star!!
My soap looks too good to use but needs must, this is what I thought about it once I added water & lathered!
The soap is a lovely bright pink colour & if I'm honest this is what attracted me to the soap in the 1st place. As the 100g is cut from a much larger piece of soap its not an exact soap shape as you would find packaged in the supermarkets.
As I tore off the packaging I was met by a lovely sweet, sickly smell. Good enough to eat, believe me if it was edible I would be the 1st in line to take a bite, but as its a soap & not a sweetie I will resist!!! Lush say that if you are cutting down on your sugar intake (aren't we all?) then there's a theory that just smelling sweet things satisfies the urge to eat them. Smelling a delicious pink soap works a lot better than taking the risk of smelling real sweets because obviously you're not going to eat a bar of soap! I'm not so sure this is true as when I smell it I just want to dash out to buy a quarter of pink shrimp sweeties!
The soap lathers very well & is a great hand wash soap, I've yet to try it in the shower. The smell is very strong & an hour after washing my hands & walking the dog for 30 minutes they still smell of Rock Star. How can I describe the smell? Can you remember Parmaviolet sweets, those purple little sweets that look a bit like Fizzers? Well it has a hint of that smell. It also smells of vanilla but to be honest I can't stop thinking of 10p pick & mix's that we had as kids. It's LUSH!! (get it??)
***PRICE***
My 100g bar of soap cost £2.10. I also bought a 100g bar of I should Coco at £1.95 (review to follow). In total it cost me £8.00 as post & packaging cost me £4.05!!! A very expensive indulgence.
***VERDICT***
I think more than anything I more proud that I am no longer a Lush virgin! The Rock Star soap is very appealing in smell & colour, definately a girls soap, I don't think my other half will be using it but I'm sure that my 4 daughters will love this soap. I would definately recommend this soap & will probably buy it again as a present but I don't think with P&P being so high that I would be treating myself again.
My little bar of Rock star is long gone now. The sad thing is the bar of soap only lasted 3 days, thats being used once a day each by 4 of us, so not great value for money. Even though it's not great value for money I have to say this is still my favourite Lush soap & I have tried a few others now. The sweet smell lasts on your skin for a good few hours. I recently bought another bar of Rock Star some of which had crumbled in the packet. I placed the packet in the bathroom bin & everytime I went into the bathroom I could smell it.
So my verdict is I love this soap & I will carry on buying it. My recent Rock Star purchases have been via ebay though as I can buy it for less P & P.
The answer to the question which I know you will all want to know is NO I didn't find any stars :-(
Summary: Quite pricey but worth the indulgence, a real treat.
