Advantages: Wonderful aroma, soothes and pampers

Disadvantages: Those petals!

If you were to ask someone to name one product that Lush sells it would probably be a dead cert that they came up with the Bath ballistics. As one of Lushes biggest sellers these little goodies are a must if you want a pampering session! Lush sell a wide range of Bath Ballistics, with regular updates in flavours and a Christmas line you are bound to find one to suit you. Thankfully Lush still produces my all time favourite The Sicilian. I regularly has fun with an Italian in my bath!!

For the uninitiated a Bath Ballistic is a fairly large round ball not unlike a tennis ball in shape. Once added to a bath it will transform your bathing experience into a luxurious pampering treat. Lush market the Bath Ballistics as: "The Ballistic is a creature of great beauty and power capable of transforming your day, like a wave of your fairy godmother's wand, with a waft of scent that escapes from your bath-water, sneaks out of the bathroom and sets off down the street" with that knowledge I was soon sold on the idea of a bath ballistic!

A Bath Ballistic is very simple to use, just run a warm bath, drop in your Bath Ballistic, allow it to fizz around like a giant alka seltzer then add yourself or selves, lay back and enjoy for at least 20 minutes is the advice Lush give you on how to use a Bath Ballistic! I of course take this advice to the letter!

The Sicilian, weighs in at a hefty 200g of pampering fun. On first viewing you couldn't say this very pale yellowish tennis ball like Bath Ballistics was very eye catching at all. Unlike it's garish coloured sisters the Big Blue or The Sex Bomb it is very muted in appearance. What tempted me in the first place was the wonderful aroma of oranges that this little beauty oozes.

Lush pack each Sicilian with orange, tangerine and mandarin oils to produce a wonderful aroma. For decorative effects they add a slice of organic Sicilian orange and some marigold petals. Lush has a policy of not using ingredients that have been tested on animals. The company has a policy of testing out new ingredients on the audience they are going to be made for ie humans! Nor will the company buy non tested ingredients from company's that still carry out animal testing.

At £1.95 a bath this is by no means an every day bath time treat, it is for those one off pampering sessions, where you want to luxuriate in a warm scented bath following a stressful day! My bath ballistic of choice for such sessions is The Sicilian

It was perhaps four years ago that I begun my affair with this little Italian beauty. Having found the Lush shop at the bottom of Regents St in London, I bought one of them mainly due to the wonderful orange aroma it gave off. After along journey home I couldn't wait to get fizzical ( that's fizzical not physical!) with this one!

As instructed I ran a bath, dropped in my Sicilian and watched it fizz away not unlike a giant Alka Seltzer! I waited for the lovely orange aroma to assault my nostrils, I waited some more but all I could sniff was a faint very slight orange smell. At this point the Bath Ballistic was half way throw the fizzing process so I went off to grab a glass of wine - it had been a stressful journey is my excuse. As I headed up the stairs I started to smell a rather wonderful orange aroma, by the time I got into the bathroom the aroma had increased. The house smelt wonderful for about 3 hours afterwards. What I noticed was how natural the aroma was and the fact it lingered.

With some trepidation I got into the very slightly yellowish bath water, waiting to have my weary body soothed, caressed and pampered by my very own Italian. It was then I noticed that the water had a very slight greasy film to it and floating around amongst a few marigold petals was a slice of dried orange. I'll admit the wrinkled up piece of orange was hastily removed from the bath as it's appearance spoilt the ambiance of the moment!Thankfully Lush do not pack the Sicilian jam packed full with the marigold petals as cleaning the bath out afterwards can be a bit of a chore as the petals do not readily go down the plug hole as I was to soon find out!

After about 15 minutes or so of just luxuriating in the bath I noticed that the very slightly greasy film had attached itself to my skin. It was afterwards I realized that my usual trick of laying back in the bath to wash my hair probably wasn't advisable as my hair did end up with a slightly greasy look to it as well. After the bath my skin really did feel soft and had a very faint orangey aroma to it. The greasy film is easily removed by towel drying and seems to help moisturize your skin.

Recommended by me as it's the only Italian I gets to grips with in my bath unfortunately!!!!
