Advantages: A great light moisturising hand cream
Disadvantages: None
Now I've already done a review on Helping Hands which is one of Lush's other hand cream and also the one hand cream I'm slightly obsessive about! But then again I'm quite obsessive about all Lush products, no matter what they are!
I'm a long time supporter of Smitten and it has it's own little place in my handbag. I use two handcreams purely because I can! Smitten hand lotion isn't as intensive as Lush's Helping Hands lotion; Helping Hands is an excellent reparative lotion for dry, aged hands, while Smitten is better used to simply boost or maintain overall moisture and softness. I use Helping Hands at night and if I'm seeing clients Helping Hands gives an instant repair whereas Smitten is used throughout the day just to keep my hands soft. Slightly over the top but I do like having a regime!
Smitten is Lush's marzipan scented hand lotion, and you are officially warned that it is addictive. For the entire day, your hands smell like an almond cake, and you can't stop sniffing them, while appearing to have a bizarre obsessive compulsive disorder should you do so in public. Yes this looks slightly strange to a stranger but to you it's very natural! I still cannot get over the wonderful fragrance of this hand lotion depsite having used it for a few years!
Yet despite this, a little Smitten goes a very long way (making it quite economical especially at Lush's prices); if you're not sparing, Smitten can leave an oversaturated, greasy finish as the rich oils will tend to sit on top of the skin as opposed to being thoroughly absorbed. When you use the right amount the hand lotion will just absorb instantly and won't leave a horrible sticky/ greasy finish that some hand creams do. The sort that don't allow you to move for a good five minutes!!
Smitten cream is very thick but has a lovely soft feel to it. The consistency is more like body butter than lotion or cream which is lovely as it's alot easier to. This rich cream is slightly off white in color and very fragrant. For those of you who are already familiar with Lush Smitten smells exactly like the Snowcake soap (it was actually made with the same scent). Lush says there is rose in Smitten but I just smell almonds and the wonderfully sweet marzipan. It is not sickeningly sweet like some of the other Lush products and is a mild, comforting scent.
This is a perfect hand cream come rain or shine, winter or summer. It carefully protects in the winter and in the summer it just keeps your hands lovely and soft. I have sensitive skin and this was incredibly soothing and didn't irriate my hands whatsoever.
What Lush says:-
Protective, almond scented hand cream.
Lush customers asked very politely but persistently for a lighter, daytime hand cream scented with the same deliciously mouth-watering fragrance as Snowcake soap. Fair's fair. Smitten is made with natural oils and butters for a longer term benefit for your mitts (that's slang for hands, short for mittens). It was named after a customers' favourite word, because to be smitten is a lovely feeling and a (s)mitten protects your hands! Anyway, whatever it's called, it works brilliantly and smells fantastic. Use it regularly for nice soft mitts.
Smitten will set you back £5.82 for a small 100g tub. However this may seem alot of money, however because Smitten lasts for such a long time as you only need to use such a small amount the money will go further rather than buying cheap lotion which you use quickly and replace even quicker!!
Summary: All of the above!
