Advantages: smells lovely, soft skin

Disadvantages: Too refreshing for the cold weather

I'm reasonably new to Lush bath ballistics, so love trying new ones at the moment. I have a few firm favourites already and I'm not sure whether this will be added to the list or not yet.

Snowdrops is one of the larger sized ballistics, not like the smaller variety such Butterball and Twinkle. I find a ballistic this size easily lasts for two baths. I tend to cut / hack mine in half and use half at a time. I also find that some of the ballistics which contain 'floaty' bits are best used inside a muslin bag - or a soap bag. The ballistic easily dissolves and has' it's full opportunity to fizz, and I don't end up covered in bits of leaves, cloves, or a smartie - as I found the other day!

Apparently this ballistic was introduced as part of the 2008 Christmas range, therefore its limited edition. It is now unavailable in Lush stores and online, but I got mine as part of my sale items in the grab it bags in January. I have found out that when this was available, it cost £2.95. I have no doubt that this will be available again during Christmas and the run up to it. So I assume Lush suggest this for baths on cold, winter days.
The first noticeable thing about this ballistic is the smell. The ballistic contains Mandarin Oil (Citrus nobilis), Grapefruit Oil (Citrus paradisi), Peppermint Oil. The smell is gorgeous and really arouses my sense of smell. The mint / peppermint smell is quite obvious but there are underlying whiffs of fruit floating about in the air. I can pick out a similar scent to Carmen Miranda soap. It reminds me of sweets as I think there are also notes of Vanilla amongst this. It smells light and innocent, not something I would really associate with the word 'invigorating' though. More 'sweet and girly'.

The ballistic looks very simple upon first glance, it's off white in colour with the Lush logo imprinted on it. When I looked more closely I could see small iridescent flecks of purple / silver running through it. There are also so translucent pieces which resemble glass in one side of it.

I'm not a huge fan of the 'floaty' bits in some of Lush's bath ballistics. Yes, I'm a bit miserable, but I hate having to pick bits out of hair and finding things in places I'd much rather not!

Lush say : -

"Take the head clearing, reviving citrus scents of mandarin and grapefruit, then add a generous dash of peppermint and you have the most amazing, life affirming Ballistic ever to sneak up on you and give you the slap in the face you need (metaphorically speaking of course)."

After reading the little write up that it's had, I realise this is probably not the best for my nightly bath ( I tend to shower during the day, and bath at night). I contemplate not using it, worrying that it may invigorate me to the point where I can't sleep. I don't deliberate for too long and decide to give it a go.

Here goes. I dropped it into the bath and it fizzed away dramatically round the bath. It was a very fizzy ballistic. As it dissolves I instantly spotted the iridescent bits floating on the top of my water. My first thought was 'oh dear'. There was loads of the stuff. Anyway, I got in, and got annoyed quite quickly! It was everywhere, stuck to my arms, face, in my hair and it was stuff all over the side of the bath. I will point out how nice the smell it though! It is much mintier when it's immersed in water. The smell last well and doesn't disappear instantly, it also lingers on the skin when you get out of the bath.

Another own side to this is the feeling you get when you stand up out of the bath. I was FREEZING! I'm assuming it was the peppermint which caused the affect but I really did shiver. It is definitely refreshing and quite awakening, so maybe isn't the best thing to use before bed. I woke me up. I'd say this is more suitable when the weather is hot, or at least warm.
It really was a hassle to wash this all away out of the bath. Therefore I don't like it. I also keep finding bits of sparkly stuff stuck to me, and I'm not impressed but I love the fact I smell so gorgeous!

I love some things about this ballistic and hate others. The smell is amazing, it is truly tantalising, and the 'silky' feeling it gives the bath water is great, m skin felt moisturised and smooth after using it in my bath. On the downside I hate the bits, there's far too much of it, and some of them are sharp, so definitely should be used in a child's bath.

I think Lush are heading in the right direction with this one, but take the blasted bits out! Please!

I wasn't keen on this but more because I seemed to have rather a large amount of bits in it and they did end up everywhere......
