Advantages: Glitter, good quality fizz

Disadvantages: Glitter, scent deteriorates over time

I got one Snowdrops bath ballistic last Christmas, having loved the description in the Xmas Lush Times. With mandarin, grapefruit and peppermint oils, it really did sound like it could be "the most amazing, life affirming Ballistic ever to sneak up on you and give you the slap in the face you need (metaphorically speaking of course)", so I put it on my wishlist and was delighted to recieve one, especially when I lifted it to my nose and inhaled. The scent was gorgeous but I also got that sensation of the vapours rushing up my nose like you get when you smell Vicks Vapor Rub or eat wasabi.

Sadly, the original sniffing took place a good few months before I actually got around to using the ballistic, and when I sniffed it before use, the scent was a lot weaker - I have noticed the scents of ballistics deteriorating before over time but not to this extent, probably because most ballistics don't smell this strong to begin with. When I plonked it in my bath it still worked as well as a new ballistic would, but I was mentally kicking myself as it fizzed around and I inhaled the lovely, but much weaker than I had anticipated scent. I really wish I'd used this sooner.

It is a large ballistic, mostly white with iridescent glittery strips visible on the surface along with large sugar cubes. I think that if you were going to use a new one you could get great value by cutting it in half and using it for two baths, however, if it's a few months old the scent will be so much reduced that splitting it might make it hard to smell at all.

When looking at this ballistic I had no idea how much glitter it actually contained. It didn't look that glittery on the surface, but as it fizzed and dissolved it released absolutely masses of these glittery pieces. I thought this was loads of fun but if you hate clearing up and don't find the prospect of finding pieces of glitter in your hair even after the next two washes appealing, this is definitely a ballistic you should "sock" - put it inside a sock or old stocking or pair of tights. It made a lot of mess, but I loved it. There was glitter on my bathroom floor, glitter on my bedroom floor, in my bed, in my hair, on my skin - for days. It was a shame I was not going out that night and was just going to be glittery in private, it would be a great ballistic to use before going clubbing or to a party and I wish I had another one to use on such an occasion. I did have to clean the bath though - I left it to the next day to dry out and then I swept up the glitter and rinsed around. Just rinsing wouldn't work as the glitter sticks to the bath when it's wet.

I have read reviews where people have said that the sugar cubes don't melt, but they did melt in my bath - possibly because I spent about an hour in there!

This ballistic was a Christmas limited edition from Lush in 2008/2009, and it was priced at £2.95 which I think would be good value although I didn't buy it myself, it was a gift. Hopefully it will be back this year and I can buy another one or two to use when they're new and I'm going to party!

Summary: Glittery and fun but best used soon after purchased

Never heard of 'socking' before! What a good idea. I hate clearing up after a Lush bath! x

I thought you could only use the word 'ballistic' in association with missiles. You learn something new every day...
