Advantages: pretty, pink and very moisturising
Disadvantages: smells different on
I bought this Lush massage bar for £4.95 as I just loved the look and smell of it when I picked up the sample and had a good sniff in the shop. I wasn't really in the mood to try the sample on so I just picked one up and popped it into my basket. I also read on their website that this is a limited edition massage bar for valentine's so I just had to try it out before it was gone forever.
The massage bar is a baby pink heart shaped strawberry that just looks so adorable, I'm sure most girls would just love this one because it's one of their cutest massage bars to date. I think the look of it is what first attracted me to this. The other bars, whilst still looking nice, don't look similar to this at all and being limited edition meant that I couldn't leave it for long.
Though I read that this is made with fresh strawberries, I wouldn't say it actually smelt of real strawberries... It's sort of a bubblegummy creamy scent. It reminds me more of the frutella strawberry flavoured sweets I used to love as a child (and still do). It's a nice strawberries and cream scent when you smell the bar. Though I wouldn't say it smells the same on my skin but I'll tell you more about that in a bit.
The massage bar is made of cocoa and shea butter to soften the skin and this one has crushed strawberries used as a base as well. This bar also has hibiscus flowers mixed into it to add more of a depth to the scent. From the ingredients list I can also see that they've used coconut oil and glycerine, which are known to help moisturise the skin and bergamot and geranium oil adds a bit of a citrusy scent to the bar.
So, as I've mentioned, the massage bar smells nice and sweet on its own but when it reacts with my skin I can smell the citrus and some other more sour smelling scent that I cannot quite put my finger on. I really wanted to smell sweet so having that hint of citrus and sour scent just doesn't really make it smell as nice and sweet as the bar on its own so I'm a bit disappointed at this.
I would say that this is an ok massage bar and is good for moisturising the skin. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't smell exactly how I would like it to on me (or even on my friend so I'm not alone). I would suggest that if you like the look of this, just pop into your local Lush shop and try it on your skin first before you buy.
Summary: my advice: try before you buy

- 18/02/09 I bought a massage bar last time I was in Lush, it's great when the arthritis in my knee flares up. |
